Addicted to Smallies Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 My wife and son REALLY surprised me this Christmas... I had no idea she had been saving up to get me a new rod and reel, much less a brand new Revo S and matching Veritas rod, but she did, and she even let my 10 year-old son put his name on the tag in the "from" section. I'm a lucky man to have a wife that not only TOLERATES my fishing, but also actively supports it and a son that loves going out on the boat with me. I already know what I'm most thankful for this holiday season -- the best family that any man could hope for. Not only do they tolerate me and my crazy-fishing-addiction foolishness, but they even enjoy getting their lines wet. And it's NOT about the expense of such a nice gift either... even if they had just surprised me with a $6 pack of Senkos, I would have felt the same way... counting my lucky stars to have such a great family that actively promotes my favorite hobby. So how about it, guys... any of your ladies (or kids) surprise you with anything this year? Anything from a new lipless crankbait to a new bass boat -- doesn't matter how big just as long is it was a gift from the family this year... let's see it! 2 Quote
Super User LgMouthGambler Posted December 26, 2012 Super User Posted December 26, 2012 Got me a new Shimano tackle bag, some Zoom lizards, a year subscription to BASS, a Casio Pathfinder fishing watch, and some Fishouflage shirts. Nice reel and rod you got there, Merry Christmas! Quote
JeziHogg Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 I got spoiled bad by my Wife and two sons, I got some pics posted on FD's Loot thread. Merry Christmas guys Quote
gripnrip Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 And it's NOT about the expense of such a nice gift either... even if they had just surprised me with a $6 pack of Senkos, I would have felt the same way... counting my lucky stars to have such a great family that actively promotes my favorite hobby. All I received was a "Happy Happy Happy" Duck commander shirt. I couldn't have been any happier! Besides she's letting me sock away some spending money for the Classic expo when B.A.S.S comes in late February! Quote
Curved Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 Congrats and sweet combo. I got some fishing stuff from my family this year like lures, a travel combo, and a wading vest. They love to indulge me, probably more than they should. Quote
bknap Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 thats a sick looking combo no doubt.... Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted December 26, 2012 Super User Posted December 26, 2012 Good for you Addicted !! A man's most valuable asset is a good wife, glad I have one. She is there for me everyday of the year, that's enough of gift for me. Quote
Super User BrianinMD Posted December 26, 2012 Super User Posted December 26, 2012 My wife does not see why I enjoy fishing so much but she still supports me. She realizes she does not know what to get so she gets a couple hundred dollars worth of gift cards so i get what I need (want...) I get my daughter every other weekend, if this falls on a one day tourney they let me fish it while they do their own thing for the day. Still trying to figure out what to get with this years gift cards, and some extra money from a bonus at work. Don't need any rods or reels, I am a co-angler so no point in having what I can't carry. Have 10 combos already. Will figure out something.... Quote
Super User Nitrofreak Posted December 26, 2012 Super User Posted December 26, 2012 I too have the best ever family, I did not get any fishing gear for christmas, but I got a lot of everything else, I got to spend time with both my daughters which was to me the absolute best part of Christmas, my youngest daughter got me a leather Redskins jacket with the embroidered lettering and logo, she kept wanting to give it to me after every skins game since she knows how pumped I am about their season especially after the way they have been winning, I do not have a pic of the jacket but I do have a pic of me getting ready to open the package, we were goofing off while my wife was searching for batteries for the camera, thought you all might enjoy it. My oldest Daughter gave me a gift that will stay with me for quite some time as well, she got me a leather wallet with an embossed bass on it, both gifts are bad a## !!! I love my girls !!!!!! Quote
Jig Meister Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 I got a 50 dollar gift card to cabelas! Quote
Super User Dwight Hottle Posted December 26, 2012 Super User Posted December 26, 2012 I got a rock Sounds like they spoiled you. 1 Quote
Fontana Finesse Man Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 My present was the new boat I bought this year, but the wife was still good to me and got me 2 UA guidewear shirts. My lovely daughter bought me a BPS gift card. My son found me some zoom swamp crawlers in a discontinued color that I love and bought me everyone the store had. So my christmas was excellent. And Addicted, that is a good looking combo! I like the clean look of the white on white! Very sharp! Enjoy! Quote
SudburyBasser Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 Single with no children so it was up to me to get SudburyBasser something for Christmas. Because he was a good boy this year he got a BPS Extreme Qualifier 370 tackle bag and some Megabass lures, among other more modest lures. Unfortunately he wasn't good enough for that Shimano Compre rod he was eyeing earlier in the fall. Quote
Super User kickerfish1 Posted December 26, 2012 Super User Posted December 26, 2012 I got a rock Santa must have been out of coal when he flew over your house! Quote
hookset on 3 Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 Most Excellant Christmas, too. I got the new Shimano Saros FA 2500. Loading it up with Seaguar 8# Invisx. Matching it up with my two year old Bass Pro Shops 6'8 ft Signature 85 mil graphite spinning rod. They'll be calling me Dr. Drop Shot. Quote
BassResource.com Advertiser FD. Posted December 27, 2012 BassResource.com Advertiser Posted December 27, 2012 No big presents but Nicole and Taylor are both sitting here with me at Roland Martins Resort on the south end of Okeechobee ready to hit the water in the morning. That's pretty special to me. Quote

I have the same combo with a 7'3 rod. How do you like it so far? I actually find that it's the heaviest of my current baitcasters (compared to a Bass Pro Qualifier/Carbonlite rod and Pflueger Supreme/Shimano rod). But the white finish is legit! Quote
