Super User Goose52 Posted December 27, 2012 Super User Posted December 27, 2012 N.I.B. Abu 2500CI... Very cool. Was that off eBay by any chance? I've been bidding on 2500's quite a bit lately (haven't won one yet) and might have seen that one. I bid a max bid of $141 on a pretty clean 2500 the other day (no box or papers) and was blown away that it sold for $306 - yikes....! Quote
0119 Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 Goose, no it was from hookless.com. The only one he has left now is a $575 24kt gold plated one. Check out etsy, there's a C with no IAR listed in very nice shape. Quote
Super User Goose52 Posted December 27, 2012 Super User Posted December 27, 2012 Yeah - some good stuff on Jerry's site. I got the parts from him to convert my 5000 to a "high-speed" 4.7... Thanks for the tip to Etsy..... Quote

Also got a Compre 7'2" H and a Cumara 7'6" ML (on sale at TW) Also, got gift cards that will go toward line and terminal tackle. YEAH!! What are your guys initial impressions of this rod? I just got one too. I like it quite well. Lipless cranks under 1/2oz was reason for purchase plus the great price. jbsoonerfan I have 50E on mine. Quote
Super User jbsoonerfan Posted December 28, 2012 Super User Posted December 28, 2012 YEAH!! What are your guys initial impressions of this rod? I just got one too. I like it quite well. Lipless cranks under 1/2oz was reason for purchase plus the great price. jbsoonerfan I have 50E on mine. I haven't had mine out on the water yet. Initial impressions are that it is much lighter than anything I am use to on a baitcaster. I may dedicate mine to a DS rod with the Chronarch. I know most people don't DS on casting gear, but I am much more comfortable with casting gear than I am spinning. Quote
tylerwyp Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 Got a st croix premier med moderate 7ft crankbait rod and bps Johnny Morris signature reel 6:4:1. Also just got confirmation on my huge squarebill TW order also with a few other items. And more gift cards to BPS! Quote
tugsandpulls Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 i got an abu-garcia vengence combo and some jigs Quote

Lipless cranks under 1/2oz was reason for purchase plus the great price. jbsoonerfan I have 50E on mine. I too haven't had mine on the water as I live in central Ohio and we're well underway with winter now. I do know that this rod just out of the box feels super sensitive and light, by far the nicest rod that I own now. My wife even held it and remarked......"I could even use this without getting tired"!!! LOL!!!! The river I fish is primarily rocky with patches of silt here and there. I'm also wondering if I could use it for squarebills or not? I think maybe the downside to the squarebill use would be that the tip would be bouncing all over the place? I'm planning on paring it up with the Tour reel she got me since it's a 6.3:1. Quote
Zeeso Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 I got A 7ft m mod action carbonlite paired with the reel, a carhartt jacket. A mini fridge for my beers. And a man cave. Recently bought a new house and we had an empty room that is an addition, has a mini kitchen. So I told the ball and chain that it would be a perfect man cave. Low and behold I come home to two gallons of brown paint, and she says, ok, you can make it your man cave. So boom , immediately im thinking, brown paint. Ill make it a cabin theme with fishing decorations. I had to paint it, but I don't care. So under the tree I got. A largemouth lamp, the one from bps, very nice. Two giant posters that will be framed in old barnwood. One has every species of bass on it, the other has every freshwater game fish on it. Two artist sketches , one of a largemouth and one of a smallmouth. An old decorative fishing net A ceiling fan accessory that attaches to the chain , has a largemouth on it. and to my suprise A sleeper couch! In brown. And a coffee table made out of wooden planks, looks like a old beat down dock. Oh the ideas are running through my head Now I just need a small tv, a rod rock for all my set ups, and a padlock. I can't wait till its done! 1 Quote
jerzeeD Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 Went low $ this year. Got a 6'6" Fenwick HMG M/MF. I am all spinning gear and needed a spinning rod specifically for crankbait use. I love my St. Croixs, But needed a rod with a softer tip than anything St Croix offers in their spinning lineup. It is not a bad rod in terms of feel...And best of all it only ran 85 dollars. It is certainly worth every penny spent. Quote
Big T Posted December 30, 2012 Posted December 30, 2012 My wife bought me a new Penn Spinfisher V 3500 SV for my birthday on the 23rd, a Star Stellar Lite Fast taper rod for Chrismtas, got a new sterero form my mother-in-law nand my sister-in-law, and a $50 gift card, in which I bought another Star Stellar Lite fast taper rod. The Rooster Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 This year I asked for only woodworking items since that is my new favorite hobby. Aside from a bunch of that kind of stuff, I ended up getting two $25 BPS gift cards and one $25 Cabela's gift card. I guess everybody figured I needed some fishing gear after all. Quote
