out fishing as noraml and decided to try Kayak fishing. I've been doing it for about 2 months now and I cant seem to set the hook. I can feel the fish but when it is time to the hook you can forget it. Seriously can you help me cuz Kayaks help me get into some remote areas where my bass boat wouldnt be able to.

What lures are you using?

When you're missing the hook set, sometimes it's a matter of waiting a second or two for the fish to take in the lure more (like with a worm). Other times, it's a matter of setting it right away (such as with a crankbait). Experimentation is key and SHARP hooks is what you want.

Since you're sitting in a kayak, are you getting enough leverage while setting? You might have to exaggerate your set with a higher, sweeping motion or if it's that too difficult, set it in a more horizontal fashion so you can take advantage of your sitting position.

Its a learned skill to set the hook in a yak. Usually in a kakak I try to keep my rod tip lower than i normally would. Hook sets for me usually go straight up or sweeping to the side and up. Just be prepared for the yak to move on a hard hookset,
