Super User slonezp Posted December 23, 2012 Super User Posted December 23, 2012 Went to the mall today with the ol' lady and her daughter. I don't know what's worse. The "People of WalMart" or the kids at the mall. Particularly the teenage boys. Guys walking around carrying IMO purses on their backs disguised as back packs. Guys wearing makeup and having their eyebrows done. The whole skinny jean craze is still going on as well as the urban "show off your drawers" look. Girls wearing the same clothes as their friends. Guys wearing the same clothes as their friends and having the same facial hair. More than one guy dressed as "Where's Waldo". My step daughter works for Nordstrom. There is another employee who wears a cape everyday and according to her "swooshes" around the store. From a conversation I had with the step daughter (she's 23) a couple days ago. dating is different now than the "olden days". The olden days? LOL 2 Quote
tipptruck1 Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 As a 27 year old. I am kind of glad I am out of that group. But the older group is just as bad. I know people that spend 100 plus bucks for pre ripped jeans. But yet if I happen to head to the bar after work. While wearing my work cloths. Woman think I am a hobo. I also know guys that take as long as woman to get ready. Now for the woman of the 25 plus year old crowd. Go to a younger bar on any given weekend. Every woman looks like a hooker. I kid you you not. They have on a ton of war paint and perfume. When they walk by you you usually gag. To top it off there usually wearing a boob shirt so low you all ready know what they look like. While there wearing this there usually wearing a skirt so short. That they can not bend over or walk with out it creeping up. These are the woman I avoid. I sure has hell would not want to be associated with a hooker. Let alone let my family meet her. As for me what do i usually wear. Normal jeans, Sneakers or steel toe work boots, a normal shirt, and always a ball cap and my costas if its sunny. I also have a goatee. But I had it long before the hipsters had facial hair. I can dress up if I have to. But I refuse to dress like the idiots of today. Quote
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted December 23, 2012 Super User Posted December 23, 2012 The mall? Here's the scoop, Al. It isn't them. It's you. See, you're getting older, and it's a coping/defense mechanism. I can remember my parents comments about my generation. I was repeating similar things about the next generation twenty years later. Kids want to be different, so they are different by all doing the same things. I've never quite understood how that works. Life does have its cycles. We wore diapers early in our life. We'll wear them again in our later years. See, what goes around comes around. 1 Quote
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted December 23, 2012 Super User Posted December 23, 2012 Hey tipptruck 1, have I got a woman for you. 1 Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted December 23, 2012 Super User Posted December 23, 2012 I agree with Rhino. I'm a bit unaware of the fashion trends in rural areas, but quite familiar with the way people are in metropolitan areas. Living in Detroit plus spending lots of time in Manhatten, Chicago and Toronto not only did I see the latest trends but partook in them myself. My occupation required " work clothes", but that ended when my work day was over. I liked being Metro, manicures, latest clothing, salons instead of barber shops, etc. At 67 I no longer cat around looking for prey, it's fishing, napping and going out to dinner with my wife, clothing appropriate for what I do now. I have no problem with what others are wearing, spending time on their Iphones and tablets, it's their world, let them enjoy it as I enjoyed mine. I'm just waiting for the day my Peter Max ties come back in style.......lol. Quote
Super User Jigfishn10 Posted December 23, 2012 Super User Posted December 23, 2012 Do you seriously want to go back to the big hair days of the 80's or the bell bottoms of the 70's. How about those 80's parachute pants and mullets? I know wat you're saying, but every decade brings it's own fashion statements good or bad. Quote
fishking247 Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 I'm 22, not that crowd though. I'm the type to buy the $10 walmart jeans lol. I have 2 nice pairs of jeans i paid around $50 for when i go out. i just can't see spending $100-$200 for pre ripped jeans lol Quote
Super User Raider Nation Fisher Posted December 23, 2012 Super User Posted December 23, 2012 I walked around in ripped up jeans that were baggy, combat boots, sleeveless shirts, spikes and chains. I looked like a cross between a biker, a punk, and a hobo. My hair was either short and dyed some wierd color, long and braided, or shaved and mohawked. I had my ears pierced 7 rings and a 2 hole industrial in both ears, my lip pierced three times, my chest pierced, and seven rings through my naval. My goatee was between 6 to 12 inches long. Usually worn in 2 braids. I had extensions put in it for about 2 weeks that made it 36 inches long, and died it green. All of that was until I was thrown out of college. Up until my son was born I wore boots and braces, regular fitting jeans cuffed at the top. Shirts emblazoned with skulls, skeleton, or whatever metal band I currently liked. I kept my head shaved and goatee between 4 to 6 inches. Since my son was born I generally wear work out type clothes. And sleeveless shirts. Regardless of outside temperature. My head is shaved and my goatee is between 2 inches to 4 inches in length. I wear a 14 guage ring in each ear. And have a couple tattoos. My shirts are Under Armour or Adidas, or Raiders, Auburn or Chelsea FC related. I think Ive calmed down a lot. As for modern kids. Im not really concerned. I looked like a multicolored can opener. I cant judge them if they want to look like women. Im just hoping the look like women fad is done by the time my 4yr old son is old enough to enough to rebel. 1 Quote

Maybe it's the lack of a male role model while growing up. I recall maybe 3 clothing styles when I was young. Preppies, burnouts and punks, and the preppies would change with the yearly fads. Growing up, I wore my hair long concert t-shirts and jeans. As an adult the concert tshirts have turned into everyday t shirts and.the hair is short and falling out. When I go to physical therapy I wear a dago t (wife beater for you southern boys), I've had a couple young women comment on my tattoos. I know they are trendy, so I guess I'm trendy even though I stopped getting them when these women were still in those diapers you speak of. I'm curious. In another 20 years are these girl dressing boys going to be girl dressing men? Maybe I just need to go to the mall more often Quote

Super User Bassn Blvd Posted December 23, 2012 Super User Posted December 23, 2012 I'm all about "fitting in" to my surroundings, or I don't go. I bought a pair of faded, pre-ripped jeans a couple days ago and a thermal underwear looking ls polo shirt. Yesterday was a complete 180, I was in Brooks Brothers prep'n it up. lol. I draw the line at wearing make up and displaying my underwear. Quote

Super User Bassn Blvd Posted December 23, 2012 Super User Posted December 23, 2012 Boys/men wearing make-up and girly clothes is not a trend. Nor is girls dressing/acting like a boy and wearing her hair like a boy. Is called OUT of the CLOSET. Kids arent affraid to hide their sexual orientation. Society is WAY more forgiving/accepting than it was 30-50 years ago. 1 Quote
Super User Redlinerobert Posted December 24, 2012 Super User Posted December 24, 2012 Levis boot cut jeans. Black t-shirt that fits. Custom cowboy boots. Done. Quote

Jake P Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 My entire closet and dresser can be found at Academy, Bass Pro and Cavenders. I do have a few American Eagle button downs. I wear Oakley's when its sunny. Thats about it. I have never been one to hate someone elses style. It may not be my cup of tea, but Just because I dont like or understand it doesnt mean I look down on someone for there style. I do wonder how some of these Teens fit into these skinny jeans though.....Looks a bit....suffocating Quote
Tokyo Tony Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 To top it off there usually wearing a boob shirt so low you all ready know what they look like. While there wearing this there usually wearing a skirt so short. That they can not bend over or walk with out it creeping up. These are the woman I avoid. Sounds like someone's jelly! These girls are the ones who can bring you incredible physical pleasure, although usually they're not the ones you want to date, mainly because they're insecure and seek validation from the opposite sex, meaning they can't be trusted. I have no problem with girls dressing like hookers though. In fact, I enjoy it. I just can't grasp the idea why a man wants to look feminine.. Maybe it's the lack of a male role model while growing up. I think that's part of it. The other part is that feminists control the media. Think about every single freaking commercial and sitcom. In almost every one, the woman is the reasonable, sane one, and the man is the bumbling idiot. Men are emasculated, and it's supposed to be funny. Look at that pathetic brother in 2.5 Men. That's the type of male character these boys grow up seeing on tv. It's normal, it's funny, it's how it's supposed to be. From a young age, boys' masculinity is repressed. 90% of their teachers are women, and more and more boys are being raised by single mothers. Add to that the constant onslaught of the feminist media, and don't even get me started about the estrogen-enhancing hormones found in all of our public water sources. It makes me sick. Then again, with all these ladyboys out there nowadays, it makes it easier for masculine men to clean up in the dating scene. Girls might claim to want a sensitive guy who's in touch with his feminine side, but when they get him, their nether regions dry up like the Sahara, and they become confused and resentful. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted December 28, 2012 Super User Posted December 28, 2012 This "pants on the floor" trend has me stumped...Why would a guy want to immulate a prison style implying "I'm available"? Geez, that's just crazy! 2 Quote
Super User deaknh03 Posted December 28, 2012 Super User Posted December 28, 2012 I do think it's a case of the older generation not understanding the younger generation, but I also think it's gone so far we are at a tipping point. Quote

The "drag-crotch" shape also seems to effect brain function. Expect no eye contact or intelligent verbal communication . Unfortunately most are highly fertile. Quote

A real man is one that lives up to his responsibilities and provides for his family if he has one. I don't judge a man by his dress, but by his actions, whether he be a layman wearing overalls or a professional wearing $5000 suits. 2 Quote
