I love this bait. Been rigging it on a weighted swim bait hook and rigging it with the tail veritical, tail vertical slicing the tail down the middle and rigging horizontally (top water).

Bass have been killing it the past 2 days. I used to use them for rare flipping occasions since buying them on clearance.

I love rigging this as a Swimbait and as a Texas Rig. I just love the action of this bait. It was really well designed.

I love all Havoc baits, except the Devil's spear. I've fished them on my best lakes on days when it didn't matter what I put in the water and have yet to get even a bite on one. Just one of those things that's maybe just a mental thing or maybe they really don't like that bait around here but it's doubtful I'll be buying any more.

Pit Boss was my favorite too, until I tried the Pit Chunk.

I've used part of a pit boss as a jig trailer and it's the same good action as you get with just a T-rigged pit boss just on a jig. Haven't tried the chunks but I'm sure they stay on the jig better.

Thanks for the video links!

Really never thought about the weighted hook/swimbait option. Going to give this a shot...

I've used the Spears in all the ways mentioned in those videos and they've produced for me. Punching was definitely the big one though.

I was having a rough day while in wisconsin on a fishing trip this past year. I was hammering fish on jigs and beavers but the bite just stopped. I tried everything with zero results. I pulled out a devil spear and rigged it horizontal on a weighted swimbait hook and swam it around the lilly pads and absolutely killed them. It hasnt worked since, but it sure got me out of the rut that day.

I really need to give this thing another chance.  I tried some of these methods with no success but not all of them.

I've never tried the devil spear, I love Havoc baits though a very good price.  I've had the most success on the pit boss, I'll have to grab one next time to test it out.

Looks like a great bait.

Now I just have to wonder why Ike has a Flip cam mounted to his hat... :Idontknow:

Iv rigged them as trailers on swim baits with great success. I love the devil spear it's the only havoc bait iv used but I did pick up some of the sick fish for this season.

Do you rig the tail horizontal or vertical on your swimjigs?

I've gotten a few bites on the Spear but nothing to write home about. I like the idea of the bait but for some reason it just doesn't seem to get bit when I'm flipping as well as say a Zoom speed craw or D-Bomb. I'm not giving up on it yet though.

I've had great luck with both the grass pig and the subwoofer on a weighted swimbait hook. Love both of these. As others have already pointed out the Pit Boss is a good bait. I also like the looks and action of the Sick Fish I've just yet to catch a fish on one.

I rig it both vertical and horizontal when using it on a swim jig some times I split the tail also.
