As kids, my sister and I used to love making the pizzelles...sounds like you got a good line up there slonezp.

I forgot I had home made cherry peppers stuffed with parm cheese wrapped with proscuitto.

My mom makes the best pizzelles I've ever had. She doesn't put anise in them which, IMO ruins the flavor. She tops them off with powdered sugar. She would serve the "company" the ones that were perfect in appearance and us kids would get the off centered ones. Grandma would spend all day making the gravy simmering the neckbones and meatballs and sausage in the gravy for extra flavor. My Aunt Josie would make the noodles and ravioli and bake fresh bread. My father makes home made limonchello. The extended family would have Christmas together. Since all my grandpa's brothers and their spouses have passed, the extended family sees each other at weddings and funerals. My family is no longer italian per se as, starting with my mother, most have married outside of the box. My mother and sister carry on the italian tradition for Christmas Eve. Either lasangne or shells stuffed with ricotta. My ol' lady is polish and I hate polish food, but for me it's perogi's on Christmas Day.

We will be having our traditional "Surf & Turf". This year I found some real pretty sirloins and grabbed a couple of pounds of big shrimp. Can't wait!

We have Christmas eve dinner at my Mom's house every year...over the past ten years or so fixing a big meal has just become too much for her and her kitchen is really too small anyway.

We have overcome this by having pizza from a local shop that my sister worked at years ago. It is the entire families favorite. Not traditional maybe, but we certainly enjoy the evening, the time spent together, and the food.

Sounds great...I had shrimp scampi jacked up on cajun seasoning the other day...heaven

Shooter, it doesn't matter what you have for dinner, but getting together and enjoying each others company during this season is what it's all about.

Merry Christmas all!

My wife had to work Christmas evening, so dinner was gumbo, courtesy of Long Mike. Hat's off to LM's wife, Marlene, for the best danged gumbo in the known universe.

The real dinner is tonight; Kobe sirloins, roasted spuds, asparagus and a bottle of Cab.
