Hi, I was just wondering what are your favorite fishing shows to watch? Do you watch only fresh water, or both salt and freshwater? I saw a thread asking this from a while ago, but a lot of them shows were not even on anymore. Updated version thread!

I like mainly Outdoor Channel stuff. What are your favorites?

Thanks!

I actually haven't watched any bass fishing shows. Animal Planet has 2 I like. 'River Monsters' where the guy goes around the world catching everything from piranah to goliath tiger fish and 6ft freshwater stingrays. They also recently ran another show called 'Off the Hook: Extreme Catches'. The host is actually a professional wrestler with a passion for fishing. That show is a bit different then most fishing shows. He goes around the US trying out different unorthodox methods of fishing that people actually use. Like fishing for sharks from a paddleboard, spearfishing for jack crevales, and even using little remote control boats for fishing in small lakes. Plus the guys kind of a goof so its good for a laugh too.

I can't stand Charlie Moore.

I don't care for the Linders but will watch their shows.

Hook N' Look is excellent other than for teh Stricker's hawking their sponsors products.

The Bassmasters University series when they are aired.

Zona's awesome fishing show is one of my favorites.

I liked Ultimate Match Fishing, I hope they have another season this year, but haven't seen them on the schedule. I guess I should Google it and find out.

Bass Master, Scott Martin Challenge, and River Monsters. I used to watch Fishing with Roland Martin, Orlando Wilson, and Bill Dance when I was younger. Used to get up real early on Saturday to watch them, then go try some of the stuff I saw on Sunday morning.

Lunkerville, The Bass Pros, Bill Dance, Linder's angling edge, North American Fisherman, and City Limits fishing are all watched and DVR-ed by me.

I also watch River Monsters a ton, more for entertainment than for learning about fishing.

I like Facts of Fishing with Dave Mercer. He is a funny guy. I'd love to get out the water with him.

River Monsters is about the only thing I regularly watch since I got rid of WFN. I do watch some Canadian shows which focus on fishing out in British Columbia.

I love that show, by far my favorite. :)

It is my favorite too. Do you watch Gettin Schooled with JP Derose? I like that show too but he isn't as entertaining as Dave. I kind of like Kayak Bassin too.

Anything i can catch on tv, i cant seem to find very many on channels that i get. And im on the next to highest package available :dazed-7: also fun fact, my grandfather grew up with orlando wilson and was good friends with him until he died. Wish I still had connections with him :wink2:

I can't believe no one has mentioned In-Fisherman with Doug Stange. I like his approach to teaching technique and the learning process, the multi species he goes after and it also doesn't come across as 30 min infomercial. There is some branding in the show but far less than most shows.

Others include: Ultimate match fishing, and the one where the Brauer father and son compete against each other, it reminds me of my buddies and I out on the water talking smack and trying to catch the most/largest fish.

The In Fisherman was a great show.....it DID show how to techniques. I quickly tired of Roland Martin's "look at me catch the big fish" with very little info.....sort of narcissistic.

Enjoyed The Fishing Hole years ago.....laid back and easy. And some of the old Bill Dance shows, on the ONE lake he fished.....heck, a Jimmy Houston show was good for laughs.

Sadly, today, I don't see ANY fishing shows that I feel are worth my time.

I would like to see a more lesson oriented series again, but I can see that's not going to happen.

But, it's not so bad....NOW I just go out and FISH. Others can sit home and WATCH.

River Monsters, and back in the day I used to watch Virgil Ward.

I used to watch "Spanish Fly". Jose is now sadly missed. I watch "Reel in the Outdoors" with Joe Thomas. He's a really personable guy with an honest sense of humor. His cameraman, Jim, is a real hoot as well.

I've always watched both Bill Dance and Jimmy houston. More for the entertainment value than from gaining any new knowledge. Some of Dance's bloopers are classics, but still get a roar from me and Jimmy's giggle brings a grin to every member of my family.

I look for instructional shows and sadly there aren't many out there. 'The Next Bite' is about the only one I watch that I believe is returning this year.
