I have a St Croix Legend Extreme 7'11" Heavy Moderate Fast rod and a G Loomis MBR844C IMX 7' Heavy Fast rod. I was thinking of using one as a frog rod and one for flipping/pitching. Would they be interchangeable for these purposes, or is one better than the other for either of these applications?

Thanks,

Dave

I think you could use both for both. The 7'11 could be more of a punch/flip rod. I've never used the Legend Extreme so I'm not positive but based on the info thats what would make sense to me.

I think the Croix would make the better of the two for frogs. Both would work for punch/flip rods. Two very versatile sticks.

the 7'11 xtreme is a beast and has a perfect action for flipping and punching heavy slop. NEver used the IMX but i'm sure it would be fine for a frog rod.

The MBR844C is a great rod for weighted soft plastics and jigs.

Yes everyone nailed it right on the head I love the imx 844 for all my heavier t-rigs and jigs, even spinnerbaits....that St. Croix is an awesome rod for what you mentioned, once you set the hook you'll lock right into the backbone and drag those pigs out of cover. Good length for frogging too.

I use the same St. Croix for punching, its very nice and has never let me down. :) Though I've never tried it for frogs so I can't comment on that.

X2 But I also use mine for froggin and light flippin. I sure there might be a better rod for each application, but the MBR844c covers all of these very well for me.
