dvdrd423 Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 Is the chigger craw as good a trailer as they say it is?also strike king smokin rooster looks good another creature bait. Quote
houston17 Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 A chigger craw is a very versitle bait, I have had luck with it used as a jig trailer. Also, they work very well texas rigged with a tugsten bullet weight on a 3/0 or 4/0 hook. Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted March 11, 2010 Super User Posted March 11, 2010 I personally wouldn't use a smokin rooster as a jig trailer. It's a large bait. T-rig it and hurl it out there. Chigger craws work nicely just texas rigged. Quote
-nick- Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 I didn't have much success with them, so I bought some rage tail craws and they produce a lot more than my chigger craws did. Quote
J_Pearson Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 I end up flipping texas-rigged chigger craws more often than any other plastic during the summer months. Personally, I've not used them as a jig trailer but I would suspect they work well. I can say with confidence that I love flipping them t-rigged though. - JP Quote
bandsr4me20 Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 The chigger craws are great. Also try some netbait paca chunks and paca craws. Quote
Vinny Chase Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 The chigger craws are great. Also try some netbait paca chunks and paca craws. Paca chunks are by far the best trailor IMO followed by the yum chunks Quote
FishnBen Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 I can honestly say Crazy leg chigger craws are my favorite plastics. And I have a hundreds of bags of plastics; craws, creatures, worms, senkos, flukes, frogs, you name it. Those are my favorite. Yes they work well as a jig trailer also. My favorite way is texas rigged on a 4/0 Gammy EWG with a 3/8 oz. tungsten weight. I carry 3 colors; Black/red flake for dirty water, Breen (SHHHHH) for stained water, and green pumpkin for clear water. Give me that rig right there and I am confident I can catch a Bass of any size anywhere. I've also caught catfish, bluegill, crappie, bullhead, green sunfish and even a musky with it....all last year. I carry a rubbermaid container in my boat for craw plastics that probably holds 25 bags. I'd say maybe 15 are crazyleg chiggercraws, chigger craws, or chigger chunks. Quote
BucketBuster Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 In my opinion, the chigger craw is a great trailer in both the 3 and 4 inch sizes. Basically, that is the only thing I use as a trailer because that is what I have the most confidence in. If I were you I would try these out and a few of the other brands mentioned as well and see what you like best. I'm sure all of the other brands catch quality fish, so the key is finding out what you are most comfortable throwing. Quote

FishnBen Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 Breen does not work!!! Well no other plastic companies make a color like it....so it obviously doesn't ;D Quote
Gangley Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 I like the chigger craw a lot as a trailer. It helped me gain confidence in jig'n which wasn't easy until using the chigger craws as trailers. I prefer a Green Punpkin or watermelon color. That Breen definately doesnt go well with the Crigger Craw pattern from KaRu, so don't ever bother trying it out Quote

fishinflip415 Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 The only wrong way to fish a chigger craw is not fish it....! 8-) Quote
Super User Hammer 4 Posted March 12, 2010 Super User Posted March 12, 2010 I have tried a bunch of times with them..both as a main bait, and a trailer..Nada. I would recomend the ragetail craw chunk..looks better too.. Quote
rat-l-trapper Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 I've only caught one fish on these, but it's the first bass I've caught since before buying them. I haven't been using em as much as I should. This is one bait I'm gonna be throwing a lot of this spring. The only way I've been successful with them is on a shaky head. Quote
Deep Jig Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 Chigger craws are probably one of my top 3 plastics. A lot of my fish this year have come on them. Quote
Super User Big Bait Fishing Posted March 12, 2010 Super User Posted March 12, 2010 chigger craws and the craw papi , are my favorite craws , must haves for jig trailers and for pitching and punching mats Quote
