lockhart52 Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 I have been wanting to go deer hunting for years now; however, I've never been and have know clue how to. I tried connecting with people but for whatever reason its never worked out. I am going to try teaching myself, with as much homework as possible. I would like someone to point me in the right direction (books, forums, etc. ) im located in ohio Quote
nick76 Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 Do you have property to hunt already? That is the big issue. From there I recommend spending a lot of time on the property to get to know how the deer are traveling. As far as what to use... Bow, Crossbow, Shotgun, Rifle or Muzzleloader. It is all up to you and how your state regulates. I got back into hunting this year after almost 20 years off. I had no special clothing, no special equipment. Just chatted with friends for ideas, practiced with my guns, and watched a few hunting shows. Most people will be glad to help. Not sure a forum is the best place to learn as locations vary greatly. Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted December 18, 2012 Global Moderator Posted December 18, 2012 Like Nick said, having a place to go is the hardest part about deer hunting it seems. Second you have to decide what you're wanting to hunt with. I bowhunt, partially because I prefer it, partially because a lot of my hunting areas are off limits to gun hunters. Rifle hunting ups your odds for obvious reasons but is still a lot of fun. If you Google search deer hunting forums a bunch of them come up and I'm sure have good info on them. It's very addicting once you get into it Quote
