11justin22 Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 The rumor is they are Shimano blanks. I have 3 and love them!!! Shimano are graphite, carbonlite are carbon fiber. They may have the shimano taper but they are not shimano blanks. Quote
catchnm Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 I know you have already gotten a Veritas but I'm going to go ahead and suggest the Falcon Bucoo Micro anyway. Wal-Mart carries them for $129 but you can get them brand new on Ebay all day for a $100 w/free shipping. I have several of them and they cast great, are very light yet tough, balnce is excellent with my Curados and Citicas, super sensitive, and they feel like the ratings that they are listed as. I do not use braid however, so I have no problems with the micros because I use YoZuri Hybrid Ultra Soft 12lb. test. I like all the Falcon rods and own several Lowriders and Caras too. Quote
Super User webertime Posted December 18, 2012 Super User Posted December 18, 2012 So... at this point I think every rod in the $100 price range has been mentioned except for Gander Mountain, Wright and McGill, Carrot Stix or Quantums... Quote
SmokeRise1 Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 Another rod that has not been mentioned yet is the Fewick Elite Tech Smallmouth. By far the best rod I own right now. I never get into the boat without it and I rarely put it down. Quote
11justin22 Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 I have kept up with the carbonlite and have heard very few breakage issues. The veritas on the other hand has had a lot of breaking issues. The biggest issue with the carbonlite is guide eyes falling out though I think they may have gotten that fixed now. Also think they have gotten a little bit of the handle on the veritas breaking, haven't heard as many recent reports n the issue. Mine has been great. Have landed several 5+ with no issues Quote
ChrisAW Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 I've only broken one Veritas to my own stupidity, and have never met a single person who owns one who has broken one either. Where the Veritas "breaking" stories are coming from, I dont know. I have yet to hear any actual problems from customers. Carbonlite on the other hand, I know many who have broken them, multiples even, and will never own one again. Quote
11justin22 Posted December 19, 2012 Posted December 19, 2012 Do a google search of veritas breaking. It was a VERY common complaint. I believe it was mainly with the first couple of batches. There are pages and pages discussing it. Where theres smoke theres fire. Then do the same for the carbonlite. There's just not that many talking about breaking. There are some, but that is not the common problem with them. Most complaints are with the eye guides and the placement of the hook keeper. I own both and have not had a lick of trouble out of either. I have landed a 7.5 on carbonlite and several 5+ on the veritas. If one breaks I will probably just replace it with the same thing..... central.PA.bass Posted December 19, 2012 Posted December 19, 2012 What action and length are you looking for? Tackle warehouse has a couple Powell max and Powell endurance rods for 109$. If you buy one of their 10% off gift cards you have yourself a less than 100$ baitcasting rod and I GUARANTEE you will not find a better rod for 100$ Quote
