Don't know about the Potomac, but my favorite pond on Long Island was overcome with salt water and didn't fare so well. Lots of dead carp. Next nice day I'll try and check out the bass population, but it don't look good. I hope the potomac is well and good, it's one of my favorite fisheries.

how will sandy effect the Potomac.

IMHO, Sandy was kind to us and had little affect from that of other storms. She pasted to the east out at sea before turning inland further north. Around the Mattawoman I saw the usual strong currents and debris moving down river. I can't say it had any affect on the fish, but it probably scoured sediments and SAV from the bottom in the main channel.

Even though there was no landfall and the storm was well out to sea there was a effect on South Florida. With the high seas water moved past the high water mark in some areas and a few homes were flooded, also beach erosion as well as sea walls destroyed. The storm created some large sandbars, fish that normally venture close to shore are not coming in. On low tide there is a large groundswell coming in making it both difficult and dangerous to enter the ocean thru some of the inlets.
