Kramer, easy question - difficult answer.

There are factors involved in selecting bait colors.

May I suggest reading magazine articles, Forum article, pros' web pages and the various posts on the Forum to obtain an idea of how to select the proper color for your presentation and technique.

Everyone could offer a favorite color and you would be very confused. So try to keep the colors basic such as:

Clear Water - Watermealon

Stained Water - June Bug and Green Pumpkin

Dirty Water - Black and Blue

Various versions of these colors can be used. Other colors work in various geographical areas dependnig on water clarity.

Read, read and read this winter.

Just about any worm or creature in green pumpkin, watermelon, junebug, redbug, or black will catch a fish in most bodies of water.

Those are my standard colors. A not so standard color I like is bama craw and another is big bite bait's easy money.

Watermelon, june bug, green pumpkin, pumpkin, black, white or any other crazy name companies come up with that is close to those. I throw a lot of worms (all kinds), senko's, craws and brush hogs.

big bite baits yo mamma. will catch fish anytime anywhere. i don't think they make a bad color either. when you are tired of catching fish rigging the bait, use 'em for jig trailers. wish i'd started using this bait years ago. another bait that will absolutely kill this time of year is a tube weighted as lightly as you can get away with. all time favorite tube color is roadkill/chartreuse.

2x baby brush hog. Also power bait's chiggercraw.

I usually start with natural colors like greens and browns in clear water, and black or junebug in muddy water.

If you are looking for a great Senko-style worm, check out a worm called "The 5-inch Sink and Catch" from Deep Creek Lures. It comes in a variety of colors. I mostly throw the Black/Blue Flake, Watermelon Red, and Black Grape colors.

Most productive brands for me: Yamamoto Senkos, Yamaminnow, and Zoom Finesse worms.

Colors: Watermelon Gold Flake, red flake, magic; Green Pumpkin Magic. GP Chartreuse Tip, and a few others.

Also productive: Bass Pro Stick-O worms, especially in Pepper frog....

Spent too much money on the colors of the rainbow, but only a handful actually produce for me.

Thanks men, I'm looking forward to trying many of these. Particularly the "magic" bait after what I read up on RW's article.
