Hello everyone, I was wondering if anyone could explain to me how they clean their low profile baitcaster or post a legitimate video that explains everything. Thanks.

I would let the professionals handle it for you or PM DVT and ask about one of his cleansing.

I disassemble the reel completely and soak the parts in soapy water, then use a toothbrush dipped in naphtha to remove any grease remaining. Lube where it needs it with the correct lubes, reassemble and you're done. Unless you feel competent to disassemble/reassemble the parts - send it to a reel service! They often charge extra if you send them a bag of parts you couldn't get back together!

There is no video that I'm aware of that shows "everything". Each reel model has a 'gottcha' somewhere in the process. Basic rules to remember are to have a schematic and recognize that they do not necessarily show order of assembly, only parts listed. Keep harsh solvents away from plastic parts. Light oil on spool bearings, oil other bearings and sliding surfaces. Grease gear teeth. When lubing, less is more.

Do you know a video that shows how to do a quick clean?

The only video's I have seen online are wipe downs with Q-tips.

IMPO there is no quick clean proper break down.... :Victory:

I have a Revo SX and the manual says to rinse the reel and oil/grease it after each use. I think that's a little obsessive unless I'm out catching calicos.

Freshwater fishing I usually wipe down any excess water. How often do you guys rinse, oil/grease your reels?

The freshwater bass guys we serviced once every fall or spring... :Victory:

If your going to do it yourself hear are a few things I do to make sure it all goes ok.

Take lots of PICs as you are disassembling and I mean of everything. Up close

DO NOT GET IN A HURRY

Make sure you have a big table to work on and a big thick towel on the table and I prefer a magnet type bowl for putting the parts in

Of course the schematic

and last but not least the most important thing....Have Mike from DVT on emergency stand by...

Cleaning is the easy part.  It's disassembly/reassembly that gets people in trouble.  You need to pay careful attention to the order the parts came off in and the direction they came off.  Keep the schematics handy and use a white towel to work on.  There is no "quick clean," if your reel needs to be cleaned, it needs to be cleaned completely.  I use an ultra sonic cleaner.
