berkleyfan81 Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 I was just wondering does anyone have one of these reel and how does it performance and durability . I just found this casting reel online and might want to buy it so if anyone on here has tried this reel can you tell me if it worth buying or just buy a Daiwa exceler casting reel instead . I do have other fishing reel companies like abu garica , lews , pflueger , pinnacle reels but just need a new casting reel or my traveling casting rod setup . Also if you have any suggestion on which other reels to buy I'll be happy to hear it . The daiwa trillionaire casting reel is $81.92. Quote
Super User BASSclary Posted December 14, 2012 Super User Posted December 14, 2012 It honestly just looks like an Exceler made for a certain store, like Dick's or something. For example, when's the last time you say a Daiwa Takara anywhere but dick's? I'd say it doesn't really matter between the Exceler and Millionaire, just pick the one with the right gear ratio for you. Quote
berkleyfan81 Posted December 18, 2012 Author Posted December 18, 2012 This reel I look it up and it popped up on tackle warehouse but it sold out and had some reviews but not many that why I am asking if anyone had a reviews or has use it before . Quote
catchnm Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 It's basically an Exceler like BASSclary said. It's quite heavy though at about 9.6 oz. if I remeber correctly. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted December 18, 2012 Super User Posted December 18, 2012 I'd step up to a Lexa 100 for a few more bucks. Quote

jhoffman Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 That exceller for a cheap reel will sing! If you break it down and clean out all that packing grease and then flush the bearings and use a performance oil it will throw further than you can throw it without turning it into a mess. Quote
jhoffman Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 Thing thats terrible about those "made for" reels too is that they are almost impossible to find parts for. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted December 18, 2012 Super User Posted December 18, 2012 Thing thats terrible about those "made for" reels too is that they are almost impossible to find parts for. No they're not. They're always built off a similar reel that you can sub parts for. Quote

Great for the guy who knows what hes looking for but most guys I know throw the schematics right in the trash. Those same guys more times than not when the reel stops functioning they pitch it too. I have a made for dicks daiwa capricorn baitcaster on my bench right now that I bought before I cared and it held up. I cant find a diagram ANYWHERE. Thankfully its only problem is spool bearings. You can download schematics online, and if it's a "made for" reel, it's almost always an exact copy of an original, minus some miscellaneous things like material. Exceler parts are readily available Quote

Just look on the Daiwa Parts Diagram page: http://www.daiwa.com/partsdiagram/index.aspx This will have all the same internal part numbers. http://www.daiwa.com/PartsDiagram/PartsDiagram/PR100H-100HN.pdf Quote
jhoffman Posted December 19, 2012 Posted December 19, 2012 The exceller isnt the problem, the capricorn baitcaster is Quote
Super User J Francho Posted December 19, 2012 Super User Posted December 19, 2012 That is a diagram for the same reel, only it's black or blue, instead of silver. Quote
jhoffman Posted December 19, 2012 Posted December 19, 2012 My reel is orange, are you saying the diagram for the exceler is the same as the capricorn? I just had both apart this week. Because the internal bearing size and retainers between the two are totally different. On the side plate bearing one is held by a clip and one is held by a star and none of the bearings are the same size nor is the spool design. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted December 19, 2012 Super User Posted December 19, 2012 No, I am saying the PROCASTER is the same as you Capticorn. If it is orange, then it is a Capricorn XTC which uses a shallow whiffle spool from the Black Widow II, and is, well orange, instead of silver. Quote
jhoffman Posted December 19, 2012 Posted December 19, 2012 Can you explain how you figured that out, is there a cross reference? Thank you for the diagram Quote
Super User J Francho Posted December 19, 2012 Super User Posted December 19, 2012 I know because I owned all three reels. Or, you can find out by calling Daiwa Service. Quote
lwwahoo Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 · Hidden by roadwarrior, April 18, 2013 - Promotional Hidden by roadwarrior, April 18, 2013 - Promotional I assumed that the Trillionaire was not a North American Reel? It was/is not a DAIWA Catalog Product so I assumed it was imported. That being said I would agree with other Posts, it looks very much like the Bass Pro Shops Excusive DAIWA TD-Pro which is really just a Black Exceler. If you are wondering if the Exceler is a good reel it is, it is an Aluminum Frame Reel with Sideplate along with a ported aluminum spool, Magforce Z and a Swept Handle. Its not a sexy reel like the NEW Aird but its also not a cheap composite frame reel. If you are looking for a Great Deal on a Very Good DAIWA Reel check out some of my EBAY Items which include a few Team DAIWA Advantages, a 150P (Cranking) and a Left Hand 150H, both are Brand New In The Box from DAIWA.
