OUJack79 Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 I am new to tournament fishing and I was looking to join an affordable Bass Club in the Richmond, VA area. Any help anyone could give would be greatly appreciated. I am not looking to spend a bunch of money until I figure out if tournament fishing is really for me. I am looking to broaden my knowledge and to also help with education and conservation. Thanks!! Jack Quote
Super User Sam Posted December 23, 2012 Super User Posted December 23, 2012 Richmond Virginia Bassmasters. Meets the 4th Wednesday of each month at Green Top. Fishes 10 tournaments a year plus any Region 3 BASS Federation state tournaments you want to team up and fish. Dues are $110 a year and includes the state and national BASS club dues. Big Fish pot is $6 if you want to get in the action. You will learn from some of the best bass fishermen in the Richmond area. You have to be a member of BASS. No boat is necessary. You can go as a nonboater for all tournaments and fish with different guys to learn what they do and why. Cost per tournament for nonboaters is $50. Where can you get a private guide to fish for 8 to 9 hours a day for only $50 and have fun doing it? Club tournament fishing is a lot of fun and you will learn a lot. If you want to fish with the "big boys" the BASS Northern Open will be out of Osborne Landing once again this year and the cost is $450 for a nonboater. I will send you a PM with my phone number. We would love to have you join us. Quote
s13john Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 I'm in the club with sam just coming out of my first year and can defiantly say that I thought I was a good fisherman but these guys know more than I thought possible about the VA waters. Defiantly a fun club for non boaters every one I have fished with has been a fun learning experience. look forward to seeing you at the meeting as a fellow BR recruit to the RVA bassmasters. 2 Quote

BlackMagic82 Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 Good morning all, Just got back in the swing of things after the holidays and hopped on the board to catch up and saw this awesome post. Sam, I'm on a non-boater out of Fort Lee and meet all the pre-requisites, and now I am stoked to know that there is a Richmond club that allows non-boaters to compete! I hope to see you guys at the upcoming January meeting - is there anything I should know or do that you haven't already laid out before I show up? Thanks!! Look forward to meeting you guys and chasing big bites in 2013. 2 Quote

Look forward to meeting you guys and chasing big bites in 2013. Just come to Green Top on Wednesday, January 23rd for 7PM and come to the Lodge which is to your right as you walk in. It is our first meeting of the year and we will announce the tournament schedule and then decide on any changes in addition to other business we have. The dues include the Virginia and National BASS dues so we will need yoru check for $110. If you want to get into the annual big fish pot it is only $6.00. Please have your BASS membership number as we will need that to send to the Virginia Federation. We would love to have you and we have lots of seats open for our tournaments. You will learn a lot and have a good time. Quote
