I received a package of these hooks through the gift exchange. Question I assume the smaller eye on the back of the shank is the keeper. Do I tie to these hooks using a palomar or is there another recommended knot? To avoid confusion I know to tie to the main eye. The keeper looks like a small needle to me, that had been tired to the shank.

That smaller eye on the shank is the bait keeper and it works great for me. Palomar would work but a snell may be better depending on how your using it. Those are nice because they are strong and the welded eye keeps superlines from snapping.

I agree 100%. This hook in 4/0 worked really well for me last spring. The wire is larger diameter that regular hooks so a solid set is required to penetrate. They do not flex however.

Use a palomar knot , you can also double up on the palomar knot for added strength.

Use a snell knot! Bub tosh has one that is really easy to tie, effective and strong! check it out!

I only ever used those for punching, and I used a snell knot that Bub Tosh preached. The (trailer) keeper seemed to have a habit of getting loose and falling out; so I started to superglue that before going fishing after the first few trips.
