Hawkeyes139 Posted December 8, 2012 Posted December 8, 2012 Looking for a partner to fish in tournaments next year. I have a new bass boat. I'd like to have someone that has decent experience in bass fishing. I don't expect to win every time but want to be competitive. I live in Des Moines and can and will travel around the state. Quote
bgoodn Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 What tournaments are you interested in fishing? Quote
lmoore Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 Here are a couple of options for IBFN clubs in your area: Hawkeye Bass Anglers, their meetings are at Bass Pro in Altoona http://hawkeyebassanglers.com/ Mid Iowa Bassmasters, I think they are out of Des Moines http://www.midiowabassmasters.org/ If you contact either of those clubs, they could tell you if they had guys who needed a boater. Other than that, have you looked at what circuit you'd like to fish? Plenty of partner circuits in Iowa if you want to do it that way. Otherwise, take a look at the BFLs. Draw format so you'll have a co-angler in the back of your boat, but it's boater vs. boater and co vs co. Then you don't have to worry about finding a decent partner. Quote
tbone1993 Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 Contact your local college's bass teams. Besides school and tournaments our schedules are normally free. Most of us have a decent amount of experience, also we have our own gear and are familiar with the rules. Most of our alumni contact us for co angler spots on FLW tournaments and the like so we are open to it. Also if you are looking to fish in the summer we are really eager to get out on a boat and fish so we will definitely consider it then. Some things you need to answer are: How much experience do you have? How committed are you? Are you looking to work your way into the FLW circuit or are you looking to fish local tournaments? How are you going to split costs? Gas paid for by boater and entry fees split 50/50 etc ? Quote
Hawkeyes139 Posted January 16, 2013 Author Posted January 16, 2013 I'm open to fish anything that can be agreed upon. I would like to eventually work my way up to a flw circuit but that's more of a future goal. I've fished a couple in the past but my partner didn't want to commit to full seasons. I've looked at both og the clubs you posted and will get a hold of them. As far as the money I want someone to pay their own fees and throw in a few bucks for gas but I would take the lions share of the expenses. Thanks for all your advice. 1 Quote
lmoore Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 Good luck. If you don't find a partner and need one for anything on the eastern side of the state, let me know. I've got a pretty full schedule most weekends this summer, but I'd gladly fish with you if I have time. Quote
