I am cosidering a purchase of this rod and would really appreciate any thoughts, opinions or

feedback from anyone on it. I will pair it with a Stradic CI4 and will be using it for smallmouth

in mostly clear rocky midlake humps, shoals and shorelines throwing 3" grubs, and flukes on

1/4-3/8 jig heads. Do you think this rod is a good choice for this.

IMO it's too light to get a good hook set. That's a nice dropshot rod but is too flimsy to handle flukes and grubs. I would go for the LTB 68MXF.

Just a heads up... the LTB's seem to be more tip heavy this year than the past models.

Eh, not in my opinion. I think for the weights and applications you're using you may want to check out the TBS71MF. You'll get a more solid hookset while still getting the finesse That's just personal opinion though. If you really want the XF action go check out the TBS610MXF.

I have the 6' 10" ML/XF LTB and it is a great rod for swimming grubs and even light shakyheads. It throws #5 shad raps and small jerkbaits very well also. It is not a flimsy rod at all IMO. Like most St.Croix rods their ML is more on par with most companies medium. I throw grubs and wacky rigs with mine mainly and it handles nice smallmouth without any problems.

Clint and Bluebasser, Thats the exact info Im looking for. Since its Christmass time ive got a plan.

I will get the 610 mxL from the wife, I will buy the 7'1''MF, and I can get a free rage on the promotion.

God I love this country! Thanks for the help.
