Has anybody here tried the new Vendetta? I'm wondering how much of a difference there is between it and the older series.

I've got the older series that I bought as a jigging rod and I'd like it to be a little longer now that I have a better feel for jigging.

saw this a lil bit ago

The rod looks way sicker in person! It's just as light as my medium heavy rods too! The only bad thing I could find was that it was a little tip heavy.. That may just be because its a 7'6" rod though. Overall it's a great rod!

I havent tried the new one yet, but it looks like it has a more comfortable reel seat / grip.

Looks like its the same rod except for the reel seat area is now more open.

It's not! I don't know what the changed but they shaved a bunch of weight off. I picked one up today and handled it and it felt just as light as the veritas. I was not impressed with the previous version but am in this one. Think I will pick one up in 6'3" for topwater.

I bought a Vendetta2 7'MH for a gift for someone and it is in no shape or form the same as the previous generation. The blank seems much more "crisp" but still nowhere near that of a $200+ rod. Reel seat is much more comfy. Only thing that has remained the same are the stiffness and cool looking rear eva foam butt. Personally, I like it over the Veritas however, I did not get to take it to the lake as they are frozen over right now.

The weight does nothing for me, due to an ounce here or there does not make me not buy a rod because Im not weak enough to care. Its the feel and performance.

Wow.........u have some issues. I'm 6'2" 230 lbs and have lived in a gym since I started football in seventh grade. I'm now 28. Needless to say my issues with having a rod that is lightweight and balanced has nothing to do with my strength. performance is directly linked to weight weather u agree or not. Can u move a twig or a tree trunk easier? Why else would EVERY rod manufacture be in a weight shaving war right now. Guess it doesn't say "shimano" it won't do for u............

There's a big difference between twigs and trunks vs an ounce between rods. I have to agree with LMG in the fact that an ounce of weight isn't that big of a deal. Usually rod mfg's get into these wars cause it is what the public wants and what sells not necessarily that it's making huge differences in performance. Just my $.02

Yes I have issues, but thats a completely different topic on its own, lol. An oz and there is nothing. I can say balancing is a plus, but once you add the line and lure, that pretty much goes out the window. Just fish what feels good in your hands. Yes, a Shimano feels better in my hands.

If you guys are saying that you like it better than the Veritas, I might have to go check one out. However, I'm very aware of the Abu hype that gets spread over the interwebs. I might pick one up during the Holidays to put it through it's paces.

I must say though, I hate the new reel seat on. Those are just uncomfortable for me

The reel seat is the reason I bought the old one, it's incredibly comfortable. I have many rods that cost more and are a higher end than the vendetta, but I'm a big fan of this rod. Gonna try and get to BPS today and check them out. If they are improved like ya'll say then that's a big plus. Thanks!

Just to clear up some info that was provided in the video review.

The reel seat is not an ACS but a custom Abu designed extreme exposure reel seat.

And the guides are not Aluminum Oxide but are Stainless steel guides with Zirconium inserts instead.

The information was taken from the AG website...

IIRC the older guides were Zirconium as well, but I wish they would have kept the ACS, that is my favorite reel seat. Heck, the could have just used a split ACS and instead of the stupid custom one they made.

Well since someone else decided to dig this up, I'll play. I have been fishing both Gen1 and Gen2 Vendetta's all season long. I have no preference in the spinning rods, but I like the Gen2 casting much better. I am not a big fan of the ACS reel seat. I find the Gen2 rods to be a little lighter than there Gen1 counterparts of the same length/power/action. Going forward, I will buy either if the price is right.
