had a few older Poe's lures all same color white deep divers .... heard this from David Fritts at a seminar at the st.louis boat show in 94 ... he talked a lot about this ... he hung them in his pick up truck.... well I "aged them by hanging in a window and WOW ... caught a few 4 pounders at a private lake last week when nothing else would work and tried all my go to baits.

I remember reading an article in in-fisherman about this, I think they said the success was becuase it looked just a hair different than the regular cranks everybody else is throwing

I have used the same lures in different colors, some in pristine condition and others banged up, chipped and faded, no difference in catch rate. By the same token I've changed to a completely different style of lure, pretty much with the same results. When they are "off" it's tough and when they are "on", you could catch them on your mothers old garter belt. I don't feel fish are nearly as sophisticated as lure manufactures even publishers of magazines depict them to be, their objective is to sell you something.

The last week I've been catching about 10 fish or so in about 90 minutes, yesterday I didn't have a single strike, it was an off day and read nothing else into it.

Honestly most people miss fish because of where they are casting. You may throw around a brush pile or a downed tree with limbs but the real key is deflection. I was fishing on the back of the boat with two people fishing up front. We were all throwing KVD 1.5s and after they had casted at the same spot and didn't catch anything I threw it in closer and bounced it off a limb and caught a nice 3.5lb fish. You cannot be afraid to lose a bait, that day almost every fish was caught off a deflection of some sort. Yes color is important but there are other factors that are key.
