I went out and bought a 100lb spring scale the next day :eyebrows: . If one bottoms that out I'll be looking for a certified scale to see if I have a state record.

100 lb spring scale - You are quite the He Man if you can straight arm the fish that bottoms out that bad boy.

Yeah the plan would be to stand on top of my boats console and lift straight up. It's about 26-28 inches tall and flat on top, I stand on it to bowfish or sight fish all the time. Still would be a quick lift then look where it pushed the marker to. Big catfish always feel so much heavier than they are. That's part of why I'm not smiling with the big blue, it was all I could do to lift if off of my lap that far in time for the 10 second timer :laugh5:

I got a pb largemouth this spring. I also got the privilege of netting a few pb's for fishing buddies this year. All in all it was a pretty good year.

As a matter of fact I caught mine TODAY!! 6 pounds 3 oz. Also caught a 5 pounder and a 4 pounder. My best one day trip this year!!

And all on a new bait I've been fishing for only a week......Pointer 100 in Ghost Chartreuse Shad!! Just ordered 2 more baits......Wow!!

Keep using that bait & the pb train will be whistling at your door.

I was lucky enought to catch two PBs on the same weekend. The striper (12 lbs)comes with a story that I will share some other time. I didn't have a scale for the bass :(

No PB, but I caught the big fish on the RoadTrip this year at Guntersville.

Officially 7-7. I think Glenn has a pic, maybe I can get him to post it.

:surprised:

Yes, I got my PB LM this year didn't have a scale would estimate it was a good 5 on the skinny side after spawn and about 22 inches. got another in the 4-5 range and landed one that was 3.9 pounds and 20.5 inches after I got a scale all on soft plastics!! This is only the second year fishing seriously, and my previous personal best was at disney world and probably 3-4 pounds on a shiner Oct. 2011. My 5 yr old son caught his biggest bass ever and my 3 yr old started fishing so he has his PB bluegill, no bass yet. It has been an awesome year!

That's what I was thinking. Here's a shot of the 'ole Goose trying to hoist just a 44 pound carp off the ground - that's not really a smile on my face...it's really a grimace!

60 years old and don't have the upper-body strength of the good 'ole days....

My personal best as it's my very first permit caught from shore. Not too big as far as permit go, no weight as I don't weigh them. One of my best landings ever, I chased this fish on foot for about 300 yds (I paced it off later), for those that know the current in the Boynton inlet, I was lucky to land this fish. Not bad for a 67 year old guy at a mere 135#.
