Bigger things to be concerned about than the End of the World.

Exactly. Like spending the weekend in Disney World with your in-laws and grandmother in -law :cry4: :cry4: .

Well so far so good. I don't see any meteorites, tornadoes, lightning, aliens, or fires out the windows here at work, not yet anyways :respect-059:

I was thinking of something that was more of a serious nature for me.

Bear in mind, it's 4:30 PM in Japan, so there is only 7 1/2 hours left until tomorrow.

My power flickered a couple hours ago but I think it was just cuz of the wind. Its gusting up to 30mph but nothing apocolyptic thus far. Looks like Im going to work today. :doh10:

03:20L and I'm still here :(

I wish the world would end, I don't like our new society; so stop the world I want off..

Agreed. Society sucks. Maybe the world can end for everyone else and just leave the fisherman and the bass.

This is like New Years day 2000 when everyone believed the world would fall into turmoil because computers would screw up the date. The Embassy in Moscow filled it's hallways with cots, MRE's and water so employees could hunker down if the city went mad.... Nothing happened, what a let down....

I remember that well. Computers were going to crash because they weren't programmed to go past 99 on the date. That was about as dumb as saying a car would stop running when the odometer turned from 99,999.9 miles to zero miles.

So the story went that the computers would not know it was 2000. The truth is, they didn't know it was 1999 either, or 19 anything else. They would roll to 00 and be perfectly happy.

Y2K is a sore subject with me because we had a vacation, planned years in advance to celebrate the end of the twentieth century (it really didn't end until the end of 2000) at Disney World. We made reservations six years before. I was playing golf with a consultant who clued me in that Disney was planning a humongus celebration to welcome in 2000. We booked reservations that day.

My wife had to return home on New Year's Eve to be at the hospital just in case there were any of the publicized, inevitable, Y2K problems. She missed one of the all time great fireworks displays at Epcot. They didn't even have a sniffle in the computer systems.

Just so you know,in addition to the requisite fishing tackle, food and adult beverages, I'll be bringing my portable cold-fusion powered chrono-synchlastic infundibulum generator. If by chance the world goes all apocalyptic on us, I'll fire that bad boy up and step through a worm hole into the parallel dimension of my choice.

You're welcome to join me, but if you go to Arkansas while Kent and I are fishing in Missouri, I doubt you'll have time to get there.

If going with Mike, instead of your infundibulum generator might I recommend an Automated External Defibrillator. You know how those old folks are.....

Some have posted that it is already tomorrow in Japan, thus the propecy failed. Don't be so sure. It's a Mayan prophecy, so it goes by their time, not that halfway around the globe.

I'm not sure, but I'm guessing that the Mayan culture lived in what is now the Pacific Coast time zone. It's December 21 for about twelve more hours. Until then, we all need to be paying attention. Attention to what? I don't know, but it seemed like a good thing to say.

Wasn't the time of the alignment, for us here in the U.S. last night at midnight. Or the first minute of December21. Nope actually around 4am EST, we are actually we are now 9+ hours past the deadline.

Nah closer to 5:25 & 32.3564 seconds lol This is assuming you were not on an astral projection nor one of the nutters actually at the Mayan ruins waiting. So I guess this celestial event actually ended the age of aquarius? lol

What a bunch of BS Y2K was....I can remember my outside resource for my business was going nuts because I would not fall for the $3000. fix...Boy did I have fun busting his balls.....

What is sad is that for many people this holiday season will have the world end today at the hands of a drunk driver.

Please do not drink and drive.

The penalties are severe and you will have to live with the knowledge that your negligence caused the loss of an innocent life.

This does not include the financial disaster you will cause to you and your family with your defense and the civil legal actions agains you and your assets.

Merry Christmas to All!!!!

Well the stock market took a dump, but that's about it.

This is the dawning of the age of Aquarius! :)

With a closing of 120 points didn't feel so bad considering -212 in the futures before the market opened. In the last few weeks there have been several triple digit days both up and down, just trying to take it in stride. Hopefully a deal will be made on the fiscal cliff, but I'm not so sure, keeping my political opinions to myself.
