fishking247 Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 can anybody point me in the right direction for some browns and lake trout on any of the nyc reservoirs or surrounding rivers and lakes? unfortunately i am stuck fishing from shore and do not have access to a boat. any info would be helpful, i am not looking for anybodys honey hole and am not asking for specifics. I have read up on kensico being a decent reservoir to target trout but would like to receive a little bit more info from somebody who personally fishes it feel free to PM or post here. thanks. Quote
backwater4 Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 Any of the reservoirs are good. Especially in early spring, the fish move relatively close. Find some of the topo maps and see where sand bars go out into the resevoirs, wade out and cast spoons to the edges. Quote
LuckyHandsINC. Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 Although I'm a bass fisherman my favorite reservoir is croton falls in mahopac. The fish just seem to be way more active here than the others I have fished, and there seems to be way more action in general. Schools of fish seem to be everywhere. For a trout fisherman it should be great. I have caught some browns while fishing for bass, and it is recognized as a "special trout fishery" or what ever the label is they put on it. Many of the fish in the jack Stewart book have been caught from there. There is a spot where all the trout fisherman go. I can't think of the name of the road but its easy to find. Coming from route six make a right at the mahopac fire station onto what I think is croton falls rd. After a couple miles the spot is a left turn on a dirt rd. I can't think of the name but I will look it up and get back to you. can anybody point me in the right direction for some browns and lake trout on any of the nyc reservoirs or surrounding rivers and lakes? unfortunately i am stuck fishing from shore and do not have access to a boat. any info would be helpful, i am not looking for anybodys honey hole and am not asking for specifics.I have read up on kensico being a decent reservoir to target trout but would like to receive a little bit more info from somebody who personally fishes it feel free to PM or post here. thanks.
