Thad Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 Has anyone used this bait? Any good? I got one for a ridiculous deal. Quote
Thad Posted March 7, 2010 Author Posted March 7, 2010 This is the one I got. I plan on painting it. Got it for $6. Quote
Super User Hammer 4 Posted March 7, 2010 Super User Posted March 7, 2010 Hmmmm..I guess for 6.00 it's o.k...Don't know if I'd classify that as a swimbait. I would look at the H20 Express swimbaits from academy..they are about 10.00 and swim pretty good..I have 2...oops, make that 1..as I lost 1 yesterday..both the 4" and 3.5" catch bass..I threw other lures for no love, yet got a nice 3 lb'r on the H20..I have the Talapia , but will likely get the bluegill to. Super User Dan: Posted March 7, 2010 Super User Posted March 7, 2010 Why wouldn't it count as a swimbait? Quote
Super User Hammer 4 Posted March 7, 2010 Super User Posted March 7, 2010 I don't know...why you have to ask these hard questions..? I see 1 joint in the middle, then the tail has a joint..I just can't picture it swiming real well..No offense to the OP...I'm just wierd like that..lol Why wouldn't it count as a swimbait? Quote

The thing started out at $125 but now you can get them for $30 or so. I would definitely call it a swimbait. I have plenty other swimbaits I just can't find any reviews of this one. Quote
Super User Dan: Posted March 7, 2010 Super User Posted March 7, 2010 So an MS Slammer isn't a swimbait? Quote
Super User Hammer 4 Posted March 7, 2010 Super User Posted March 7, 2010 Well, I hope you don't take offense to my comments..wasn't meant to hurt any feelings. Quote

LHC - Bank Robber Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 I have some, they look great, but I haven't fished em much and have yet to get a bite on one. Which size did you get? Quote
Super User Dan: Posted March 7, 2010 Super User Posted March 7, 2010 I"m just trying to understand your definition of a swimbait. This thing is pretty much the prototypical swimbait that I picture when I think of that category of baits (although maybe lacking another joint) Quote
Super User Big Bait Fishing Posted March 7, 2010 Super User Posted March 7, 2010 if it is brand new i would just put it on the shelf as a collectors bait , they don't make them any more . they look a little out of place compared to realistic baits you commonly see , alot of japanese baits are like that . i have never heard of big fish caught on those , you never know : i , myself , would not have much confidence in a bait like that , so for 6 bucks , you got a nice decoration ...... Quote
Super User Dan: Posted March 7, 2010 Super User Posted March 7, 2010 I would probably buy one in this color just to try them out. They look worthy of trying out Quote
Super User Big Bait Fishing Posted March 7, 2010 Super User Posted March 7, 2010 as far as it being a "swimbait" , i think it qualifies . alot of people have different views on what is or isn't . for example , a Lunker Punker IS a swimbait , some will argue but it is always classed as one . for me , the only problem i have about baits being called "swimbaits" are the hollow tube baits ( hollow belly's , Basstrix , Yum Money minnows , etc..) they are just that , hollow tube baits with a boot tail ............ Super User Hammer 4 Posted March 7, 2010 Super User Posted March 7, 2010 This would be my idea of a hard swimbait, not nessesarrly my favorite, just an example. Quote
Super User Dan: Posted March 7, 2010 Super User Posted March 7, 2010 so the number of joints is important in your classification? Quote
Super User Hammer 4 Posted March 7, 2010 Super User Posted March 7, 2010 Yes, if the joints and construction relate to the swiming action of the bait.. The number of joints don't nessesarly mean the bait has a good swiming action. I'm also pointing out the shape of the bait, the Nates looks like a trout imho. so the number of joints is important in your classification? Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted March 7, 2010 Super User Posted March 7, 2010 Um, correct me if I am wrong but.... 3:16 Original Wakebait, Wake Jr, Hyper Herring and Baby Wake all have one joint. I think the OG Armageddon only has one as well. I'm just sayin' Quote
Super User fourbizz Posted March 7, 2010 Super User Posted March 7, 2010 I dont think Hammer has any idea what he is talking about. ;D I'm not gonna argue the swimbait definition because it has become so muddled, specially with the recent bandwagoning lameness. So, the real swimbaits to me, are big baits, and so I call them big baits, lol. I know some guys that really like that bait. They have durability issues. At retail, they are a rip off as a non-collector bait. At less than $30 I think it is a decent buy. They tend to get water intrusion (wood bait) and split pretty easily. It has a very middle of the road, nothing special, nothing horrible wake bait action to it. I do not like the metal fins. Baseline, at any price, I would rather have a Slammer, at retail, I would rather have a Wake Jr. Speed, the OG Armageddon has 2 joints+ tail joint just like the BA. The only things he really changed were the profiles and the bill. The BA is thinner across the back and has a diving style lip, where the OG had a perpendicular lip. He also beefed up the tail to a thicker polycarbonate. Quote
Super User fourbizz Posted March 7, 2010 Super User Posted March 7, 2010 Thad, forgot to mention. Make sure you coat that thing with a couple generous coats of epoxy. If you just use auto clear, you will get water intrusion really easily.. Quote

Super User Hammer 4 Posted March 7, 2010 Super User Posted March 7, 2010 Heck with it...I'll stick to my Soft swimbaits... ;D Quote
