NBR Posted November 22, 2012 Posted November 22, 2012 I have an old but favored graphite rod that the tip is broken off. Just putting a new tip guide on is not an issue. I've done it many times. On this break the tip is shattered an 1/8 inch or less and I need to cut just a smal piece off. Any suggestions on how to cut a little piece off with out shattering the fibers. Thanks, Quote
Super User S Hovanec Posted November 22, 2012 Super User Posted November 22, 2012 Wrap a piece of masking tape around the blank where you want the cut to be. Use a cut-off wheel on a Dremel or a flat file to file away the section that's bad. Quote

A coarse sharpen stone works also as does a battery operated hook sharpner like the berkley line stripper with stone on the end, Quote
