Thanksgiving Fishing

Hey everyone, so I'm going down to my cousin's house in charlotte, NC for this week, and there is a nice pond there that I want to fish. Its got a sandy/rocky bottom with some wood cover, and the last time I was there I wasn't fishing for bass, just carp and bluegill. (There are a TON of carp.) So with it being the middle of november and the bite slowing down fast, I could use a couple of tips on presentations. I know that slow rolling a swimbait works for early fall, but I'm not very familiar with winter fishing. If you guys have any tips I would really appreciate it.

Try rattletraps of some kind. Been working for me in really deep water and had some nice strikes on my pond the other evening.

They are tearing up a black/blue jig (with a rage trailer) in the wood the last couple weeks. The water temps are in the low 50's and the big fish are feeding up in NC (I'm fishing in the Raleigh area)...good luck!

jerk baits, flukes, cranks,jigs,spinner baits,craws/soft plastics on a football jighead ..maybe a topwater popper, spook, etc if you see bass chasing shad

Topwater if the conditions allow for it, buzzbait and or Pop-R. I second Rattletraps of some kind and or crankbaits.

Everyone needs a few black and black & blue jigs. 3/8 or 1/2 oz jigs/ Black w/ Blue Flake Rage Tail Craw

Yeah I know I just don't really use certain baits because all I fish is small, grassy ponds. I never use spinnerbaits, topwaters, jigs, or deep cranks.

Well then, I guess I don't understand the question. You are asking for suggestions, but don't want to try anything new?

Maybe just stick with a weightless Senko and Fat Ika, I'm sure you will catch a bass or two.

My dad won't take me to dick's before we leave so I'm stuck with my current stuff.

Since you have to go with what you've got I would definitely still give the jigs a shot. It sounds like you will be bank fishing so be prepared to lose some because you will need to get them into the thickest wood and rock. Just remember to use heavy line and a good M/H or H pole if the place has big bass...those NC Hawgs will break you off in a heartbeat

And next time you get to Dick's raid the black and blue jigs and Rage craws (there's none in the Garner Dick's 'cause I cleaned them out). Let us know how you did when you get back home.

Thank. I do have a pack of green pumpkin rage chunks and a pack of orange/brown rage craws. As for line........I'm using 14 pound nanofil. I can switch over to 20 pound powerpro if necessary. And I only have one pole. Its a 6' berkley lightning rod and its mh with a m action I believe. My reel is a daiwa takara.
