gall Posted November 18, 2012 Posted November 18, 2012 i saw this line in my most recent bass magazine and it says its made for finesse presentations and is made for spinning reels so my question is has anyone used it because 30$ is pretty pricey to risk it Quote
The Next KVD Posted November 20, 2012 Posted November 20, 2012 I think its a little to early to be asking that as it hasn't been on the market for very long. However, I will say Sunline makes some excellent product and their lines are worth the price they command. I'd say if you can afford the line and justify the cost by using finesse gear ALOT go for it, however, if your in doubt or don't use finesse gear much I'd say stick to something that is tried and true for you. HookSetDon Posted November 20, 2012 Posted November 20, 2012 Just looked up the line, claims to be pretty special but dont all these new super lines. If you're willing to wait I bet it will show up on ebay less soon. TW selling the sunline super fc for 28 bucks compared to 15-17 on ebay. If you do take the plunge, let us know Id be interested to hear how it is. Quote
Arv Posted November 20, 2012 Posted November 20, 2012 Yeah, not sure about the finesse FC, but I love my Sniper. Quote
gall Posted November 20, 2012 Author Posted November 20, 2012 the reason i ask is because i wanted to use it for my spinning rod set up for fishing the crik i mainly use soft plastics and it said it was made for spinning gear so i might just bite down and buy it Quote

Much better line in my opinion. Very sensitive and great for spinning gear. Quote
mod479 Posted November 21, 2012 Posted November 21, 2012 I ordered the 6# as soon as it was available, it works very well in my limited experience. (~3 months) I used it for light tubes, weightless flukes, light texas rigged craws, and drop shot to try to get a feel for what it was good at. Finesse applications right? Very sensetive, which is quite possibly its best attribute. Also it's pretty supple for FC right off the spool. As always, heavily coated it in KVD L&L as I was spooling it on the reel and stretched it out twice. Very little issues with twists now. Didnt get to test abrasion resistance like I wanted to, but it wasn't too bad for a line of this nature. I had no fear dragging tubes and craws through rock piles and boulder fields. It got tore up, but it still brought fish back to the boat/shore. If you've got a dedicated finesse setup, this might be a good choice for you. But if you're gonna run it on a do all set up...stick with SL sniper, it's just as good for most applications and cheaper. Quote
gall Posted November 22, 2012 Author Posted November 22, 2012 it would be used on my crik smallmouth rod which is a spinning set up which consist of light jigs and light craws and tubes the most ill ever use on the reel is 3/8oz most of my craws are 1/8oz and jigs are between 3/16 and 1/4oz same with shakey head i was looking at getting the 8# and thats exactly what i need abrasion resistance because the whole water way consist of limestone Quote
Super User Darren. Posted November 22, 2012 Super User Posted November 22, 2012 Why not spool up your spinning reel with 10 or 15 lb braid, then fish leaders rather than straight spooling with FC....? Eliminate line issues that way, and you can buy a spool of the Sunline and use it sparingly (i.e., as leader only). That way it'll last a very long time depending on your leader length and number of times you have to change it. Quote
Super User Hooligan Posted November 22, 2012 Super User Posted November 22, 2012 Quite simply, some people just don't like braid. I'm one of them and have good reason to not like it, after much experience and many hours, it just isn't for me- another post for another time... The Finesse Fluoro is a decent line, really. But that's about it, decent. It's not a particularly wonderful line in any one category other than manageability. When it comes to it, Invizx achieves the same properties in a little cheaper package. They're relatively close on stretch, diameter, and in terms of abrasion resistance. Sunline Finesse might be a little more dense, but not dramatically. If you're after a pure finesse fluorocarbon for spinning reels, you might look into Kureha R18. It's become more available and is top notch material on spinning reels. It has many of the best features of Tatsu, but is considerably softer without the stretch. I'm not terribly fond of it on casting gear, but it does well for that, too. I'm fishing it on a couple drop shot rods in 7lb, and have been very happy with it. Quote
gall Posted November 22, 2012 Author Posted November 22, 2012 i was thinking braid but the area i fish is sharp limestone so abrasion resistance is a big must for me and hooligan what lb test do you run? ive been using 10# p line fluro clear for quite sometime now its good but still has its major drawbacks just been tough finding a good fc for spinning reels because how it just jumps off the reel unless you underspool it and smallmouth are mean sobs when it comes to hard dives and drives which is why i need a strong like across rocks so ill check out that one you just mentioned thanks the reason i dont really use casting gear much is the area i fish the max depth is 8ft but mainly between 3-5 feet so and the width of the crik i can almost totally clear with a quick snap with the spinning rod Quote
gall Posted November 22, 2012 Author Posted November 22, 2012 and hooligan where can i find that line you mentioned? Quote
Super User Hooligan Posted November 23, 2012 Super User Posted November 23, 2012 Ichiban Tackle usually has it in stock, Hi's sometimes does, too. Quote

The guys from northern Mexico come down here to fish Zimapán lake with their rope thick line braided line just to find out that the chunk rock eats their line in an eyeblink. We guys used to fish that lake use FC and copoly ( 6-8 lb ). Braided line and sharp rocks don´t mix well. Quote
gall Posted November 25, 2012 Author Posted November 25, 2012 yeah thats what i dont wanna go braid due to that exact reason it worries me too much Quote
