EvanT123 Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 Hey all, I have a question. I'm looking for a new spinning reel and I'm looking at a variety of brands however I only have the opportunity to look at a few of the models I'm interested in since the stores around here only carry a couple brand. Basically my question is are spinning reel sizes ie 2500, 3000, 3500 standard across different brands or at least similar? Or is it like rod actions and powers where without seeing and touching you don't know what your going to get. Thanks. Quote
Super User Raul Posted November 17, 2012 Super User Posted November 17, 2012 Look at the weight & spool line capacity to have an idea of the size, similar weight and spool capacity will mean "about the same size" more or less. Shimano & Daiwa use more or less the same nomenclature for their reels to indicate size ( 750, 1000, 1500, 2000, etc ) but other manufacturers don´t. Quote
EvanT123 Posted November 17, 2012 Author Posted November 17, 2012 Thanks for the info. I was looking at a pflueger and shimano. I handled the shimano 2500 and liked it but can only look at the pflueger online and it looks small in the 2500 size. The pflueger attracts me because of the options for the price and spare spool. Delaware Valley Tackle Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 The 6735 Pflueger President and 2500 Stradic are about the same size. I have both and like them. Bang for the buck wise Pflueger spinners are hard to beat. If $ is less of a concern I really like my Ci4 stradic. 1 Quote
