jrsmith_80 Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 I recently bought a 1990 Astro 18FDX. The boat hull an motor are in very good condition but the carpet needs some help. What are your guys thought on replacing the carpet with bed liner? Is this a good idea or not? What are some pros and cons of doing this? Quote
Super User 00 mod Posted November 16, 2012 Super User Posted November 16, 2012 Pros- easy to wash out Cons- Boat rash on equipment, colors affect the "hotness" of it, any fish that flop have a better chance of hurting slim coat. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted November 16, 2012 Super User Posted November 16, 2012 Bedliner on a glass boat? Ehhhh, I don't think that would work too well. I don't really like the idea for tin boats either, though. Quote
Super User Hi Salenity Posted November 16, 2012 Super User Posted November 16, 2012 It may peel if you use it on anything wood. Quote
salmicropterus Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 I have been on a boat that did this. It was very slippery (surprisingly but I think the initial roughness had smoothed out a bit) on a very rainy day. Quote
jkarol24 Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 I would not do it on the decks, but would consider it on the lowered floor around the consoles. That carpet always seems to be wet and nasty, plus the bed liner may aid in better drainage. Quote
gramps50 Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 Might want to look at Hydrotruf http://www.hydroturf.com/ Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted November 18, 2012 Super User Posted November 18, 2012 I know of a guy who did it, his boat looks like crap now, but then again, what little I know about the guy, I don't think it bothers him one bit. I would not do it. Quote
