bkohlman Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 You have purchased lures that catch fisherman and not fish....what was it? Quote
NEjitterbugger Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 If your talking literally "catch fisherman" than it was a Rapala X-Rap... The twist is it caught a fisherman and a bass in the same cast....(the fisherman being myself) It was a summer afternoon and I hadn't hooked a good bass in a few weeks. After fishing maybe 20 minutes I hooked into a solid 3 pounder. As it got closer to the boat I began to get more excited, as I heaved the fish into the conoe I dropped it and the lure proceeded to go directly in to my thigh. Not only that but the fish was also on the lure still and was flailing like crazy... As my 11 year old sister laughs at me I experience a terrible pain(LOL). We finally got the fish off the lure and it swam off, we then swam off to the ER because I STILL had this lure in my leg. After waiting about 30 minutes in the hospital we are taken a room. After waiting another 15 minutes a doctor arrives holding a pair of pliers. He goes right ahead and rips it out of my leg... Wasn't to bad but I wanted to share my story... Quote

Traveler2586 Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 Yes, most of the lures I've purchased have failed to catch fish. I do a lot of fishing, but not much catching. 2 Quote
PABASS Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 When I was a young lad I was hooked on the banjo minnow, didn't do much for me, that was when I was in a slugo craze and wanted something with more action, lol.. Quote
ChrisAW Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 Swimming Senko. Can't buy a bite on them. Back of a swim jig! They are killer for many lakes around me. Takes me a minute to think of a stupid lure I've bought that didn't catch anything but my eye... Probably the Strike King Sexy Swimmer. Never got a hit on it, but I also only fished it 3 or 4 times before my tackle box was stolen a couple years ago. The rest of my baits I've caught fish on, but I do have a lot of them that I've found something else I like more and are just collecting dust in a drawer. Quote
TNBassin' Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 For me it's the Rage Tail Smokin' Rooster. When I saw a video of these flappin' and flutterin' underwater I just KNEW I'd catch a ton of bass on these. Well....I haven't gotten anything on them all year long. liked how they looked, but the fish clearly don't. 1 Quote
RyneB Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 I have a bunch of lures that dont catch fish, but that is because i rarely fish them. There are 2 baits that i try often and never get bit. One is a good old 10 inch powerbait worm, or any worm for that matter. I could very well be the worst worm fisherman. If i had to choose 50 baits to choose for the rest of my life, a plastic worm wouldnt even be considered. The other bait is the Rage Hog. I catch fish on zoom hogs, but can never get bit on the Rage one. Hard baits id have to go with all prop baits, especially the Devil Horse. Quote
TNBassin' Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 I think that sometimes too much action is a bad thing. Quote
Bassego Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 Koppers Live target crankbaits, they look awesome but i can't catch a dam thing on them. Quote
Super User MCS Posted November 14, 2012 Super User Posted November 14, 2012 Ribbon tail worms, heard so much hype about them, picked up a couple packs and have yet to get a bite. Quote

Super User LgMouthGambler Posted November 15, 2012 Super User Posted November 15, 2012 I bought a YoZuri jerkbait because it was a clear prismic reflective cool looking lure. I will never use it, but it looks cool to be on my boat keys, lol. Quote

Super User Ratherbfishing Posted November 15, 2012 Super User Posted November 15, 2012 I once bought about 10 really pretty baits from a Wally World bargain bin because the price was cheap. I swear, they really were sexy and they seduced me. But their actions truly stank. I'm now using one as a key chain (hooks removed) and another is affixed to a USB memory stick. The rest were pawned off to friends as additional ballast in their tackle boxes. 1 Quote
FillupD Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 Same here. Hootie One more vote for the swim'n senko. I even got the assortment box. I even own a couple of Dancin eels. Like new, never been bit. Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted November 16, 2012 Global Moderator Posted November 16, 2012 Spro BBZ shad. Looks great in the water but other than wipers I can't hardly buy a fish on them. Quote
Super User K_Mac Posted November 16, 2012 Super User Posted November 16, 2012 Like Ratherbefishing I was once seduced by the pretty, cheap, knock-off crankbaits at WallyWorld. A whole handful of baits for the price of a good one, how could I go wrong?! I did actually catch a dink or two on one of them. Why I still carry them (and even throw one occasionally) I don't know-just too cheap to throw them away and would feel guilty giving them to anyone else... Quote
