JCiurej34 Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 I am looking for a new spinning rod primarily for shaky heads. I will occasionally throw a senko on this rod as well. I am pretty sure I am going to go with the Legend Tournament Bass series from St. Croix. I was wondering if you guys could help me to chose what length and action I should get. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted November 12, 2012 Super User Posted November 12, 2012 6'8" M/XF. It's pretty much the "do-all" rod in St Croix's line up. I have a few Legend Tournaments, but not in that perticular rod, mine is a Mojo, but all my other LTB's are outstanding, I can't help but think that one would not be either. Quote
Super User Hi Salenity Posted November 13, 2012 Super User Posted November 13, 2012 Take a look at the LTW 7''MLF I like mine a lot! Quote

Super User NorcalBassin Posted November 13, 2012 Super User Posted November 13, 2012 6'10" MXF... specifically made for shaky heads but would also do well with top water, wacky style, drop shot, and other finesse techniques. Quote

I have that exact rod and it's a great multipurpose rod. It fishes a shakyhead, weightless senko, soft jerkbait, small T-rig, or even a small jig very well. I also have a 6' 10" ML/F, it would be a good choice if you like smaller shakyheads and wacky rigged senkos. I had the 6' 8" M/F and it is a very good all around rod like WW2 said, even used it to throw jerkbaits at brown trout this last winter. Quote
JCiurej34 Posted November 13, 2012 Author Posted November 13, 2012 Bluebasser86, what do you mean by lighter shaky heads? I generally use 1/8 oz and up. Quote
jerzeeD Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 Great rod...I have the 6'8" M/XF for weightless to light weight plastic rigs. The 6'10" version would work for your application, too. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted November 17, 2012 Global Moderator Posted November 17, 2012 Bluebasser86, what do you mean by lighter shaky heads? I generally use 1/8 oz and up. Something like a 1/16 shakyhead or an 1/8oz with a small bait like a 4" worm or small craw. If you go much bigger it kills deadens the feel of the bait. If an 1/8oz is a light as you go I'd go with the 6' 8" M/F or 6' 10" M/F. Quote
