FishinTN Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 I thought the pointers were suppose to sit nose down in the water, I was messing with mine and they don't. So I'm assuming they are not suppose to, correct??? Quote
brushhoggin Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 mine sits nose down.i have the 100. what kinda line you using? Quote
aarogb Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 I think my Pointer 78 sits straight maybe nose down a little bit. Kinda hard to tell for me though. You can make sure it sits nose down, just get some Suspended Dots or Suspending Strips from Storm. http://www.***.com/Storm_SuspenDots_80_Dots/descpage-SSD.html http://www.***.com/Storm_SuspenStrips_70_Strips/descpage-SSS.html Quote
Jake. Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 The Pointers I've fished all suspend horizontally. Quote
Super User 5bass Posted March 2, 2010 Super User Posted March 2, 2010 Whats your current water temps? Pointers usually wont suspend correctly if the water is too cold (like 43 and under) Quote
FishinTN Posted March 2, 2010 Author Posted March 2, 2010 water 42, no line. Was just checking how it sat. Quote
Big O Tires Angler Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Fluorocarbon line will make it sit nose down. Just make sure to use 10-12# test to get the correct action out of the bait. Quote
kLuo Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 are lucky craft pointers really worth the price? I have never used one, mainly because I cannot justify paying $15 for a jerkbait. I usually use X-Raps, but am not opposed to switching to lucky craft if it is worth it. Quote

Big O Tires Angler Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 You really don't lose them because it's a shallow running lure. Some of the deeper cranks I have a hard time swallowing the price tag, but as far as ripbaits are concerned...LC all the way! Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted March 2, 2010 Super User Posted March 2, 2010 I have no problem with them not suspending correctly. They are worth the money as they have a more subtle action than the X - Rap and work better in some circumstances. I never go on the water without X - Raps, Pointers, and Husky Jerks though. Quote
River Rat316 Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Like said before they are more subtle than a xrap, both are good, however the xraps usually don't get used in water colder than 55 degeres for me, they are to erractic and a more subtle approach works better for me at that point. LC are well worth the price, you don't need every color, and since they run shallow you rarely lose one, try a 78 in Ghost minnow, Pearl ayu, and Perch. get a couple 100's in other colors and you are set, total investment less than $60 if you buy smart when you find sales or clearances Quote
Super User burleytog Posted March 2, 2010 Super User Posted March 2, 2010 The Pointer should suspend horizontally in 42*-50* water. Just look at the package. Quote
Super User RoLo Posted March 2, 2010 Super User Posted March 2, 2010 The Pointer should suspend horizontally in 42*-50* water. Just look at the package. x2 I'm guessing you're using fluorocarbon line? Roger Quote
Blue Streak Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 The Pointer is a great lure. In my opinion it is LC's best and the only one worth the price. Quote
dnb Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 Use the Lucky Craft Bevy Shad.. IF your looking for a jerk that will sit there nose down. Quote
