Glass Crankbait Rod

Im looking for a very sensitive and fairly light action glass crankbait rod for around $100. I would like to use 10-12 lb line for throwing those light squarebills around. Does anybody know of such a rod?

Just curious, where do you plan on fishing the squarebills? Heavy cover or open water over submerged vegetation?

Very sensitive are two words that do not belong in the same sentance as glass crankbait rod. I personaly don't use glass mainly because when I do get a bite on a squarebill its usualy around heavy cover and I want to hawg tie them to the boat. I would also up the line to 14-15lbs. I use a 7' MH Garcia Veritas rod that has a pretty stout tip. I use this rod for all my squarebills.

If your deadset on glass, the only manufacture that I know of that still does make em' is St.Croix in their Mojo and Premier lineups.

I haven't heard a single bad thing about the Veritas. The Winch version seems it would be perfect for what your looking for. I almost got one myself but ended up splurging and got a Dobyns. Keep us updated!

Powell Deisal makes a good glass rod for $70.

Lamiglas excel 705g can be had for ~$100. Same blank as their old SR models.

squarebills are meant to be thrown right into thick cover, usually from closer in. therefore, a shorter and more powerful rod is in order. i would not recommend a light action rod for this type of fishing...not even a medium power is stout enough. plus, glass here is unnecessary. go medium-heavy power, fast to extra fast action...the powell squarebill rod (a TW exclusive) is perfect and you might be able to find a used one for $100. i have the 7' veritas winch and it's an awesome rod but would only be good for squarebills in open water. perhaps a falcon bucoo in the 6'6"-6'9" range in medium-heavy?

If you want a sensitive glass rod try the Skeet Reese S-Glass 7'MH Crankbait rod. However, I agree w/most of the posts about using a more stout rod w/squarebills. Its tough to tell the difference between a bite & grass or a branch with a glass rod, which can mean the difference between getting a reaction bite or not. With a more responsive rod you can rip the crankbait out of the grass or bump it off of a branch or log.

I prefer a glass rod for all my crank bait applications. For square bill I prefer a Powell 703 Max Glass rated MH Mod/Fast. I believe there is nothing better then glass to keep a fish hooked up. I also have Powell 706CB and 704CB graphite rods, but the tips are too fast, and I loose too many fish on these rods.

Im throwing the squarebills in open crystal clear water because that seems to be the best crankbait to use, I also need the light sensitivity

I have been using a BPS CRANKIN STICK for the last two years. Its worked out pretty darn good for me.

So far, I'm liking my Phenix X9 composite rod as a light cranking stick, it's a graphite butt to mid section blending into a fiberglass tip. I haven't fished it much, threw some Wiggle Warts with it the other day and it did a good job of keeping the fish pinned. A bit out of your price range at $189, but the Black Friday sales prices are getting closer!

I'm hearing a lot of good things about the Diesel crankbait rod. I'm getting curious enough to maybe spend some money on one. For $69....I can live with no warranty and if it's as good as people are saying.....

I hope it's not just hype.....I'm thinking it isn't since some of the people I know that are saying good things about it are also the same people that seem to shell out 2-5 times that much on rods on a somewhat regular basis.

The veritas winch can be found for a really good deal right now but it might be a better choice for mid-larger cranks whereas the Diesel seems like it would be more geared towards maybe mid-smaller size cranks. I have a lot of stuff that could probably be tossed on either (around 1/2oz or so) so I'm debating maybe a winch too. Hmmmm.....
