2 years after the freeze I finally caught a peacock in Delray, about 2 miles from my home in canal where I used to catch a lot of them. This was a nice fight, I'm hoping there are some more.

Nice peacock, congrats. I took a trip to south Fla a couple of years ago specifically to get some of those beauties. I wasn't disappointed.

You know I don't weigh or measure them, but I'd guess maybe 2-3#. Pound for pound they may be at the top of the freshwater fighting list, I never caught anything in Michigan that rivaled them.

Very nice. I've yet to catch a peacock down here, not even sure there in my area. I hear they do have some a little south in Naples. What part of Michigan were you from?

That one is old and in real life doesn't look so good. It's a size 08, I was using it in saltwater, it has 4x trebs.

Beautiful fish. I think based on looks alone the peacocks are my favorite. I haven't had a chance to fish for them yet though. Very nice fish. Keep it up.

Went back again yesterday Pm and caught some more, this time I went with a light rod and ul reel. I'm burned out on the small ones, 1-2 pounders don't get it, gotta find the bigger ones. Didn't realize this until yesterday but there is a daily limit of 2 with only 1 being over 17".

One of the nice things about Florida, snook and jacks in the morning, peacocks and bass in the Pm. I used to have a ton of Peacocks in my backyard canal, which connects to the same place I've been catching those peas about 3 miles away, so I'm hopeful to get some action at home. My canal used to be excellent, many peas and some great bass, 2 bad things happened, the freeze and the county came in a dredged, the bass haven't been the same for 2 years, just yesterday I had some better action.

In Palm Beach county they are making a little bit of a comeback, I personally have caught them in only 2 places and the sizes are small. Further south I understand they are catching them with much less effort and they are bigger.

Nice! Ive heard of people getting them in Coral Springs, but Ive yet to see one between there and Weston. My landlord and I live on a canal, he said they used to be in here till that long cold. I wish theyd come back!

I've been back to the spot I was catching them a couple of times in the last few weeks but only caught one.  Before the freeze they were all over the place here, I was catching about 1-1 bass and peacocks then in my backyard canal.

Peacocks are brightly colored, the one in the photo does not do the beauty of the fish justice.  No resemblance to a perch. Peacocks are a South American cichlid, not really a bass.
