Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted November 2, 2012 Global Moderator Posted November 2, 2012 Took me a minute to figure out how he even did that but I think one of the limbs on that tree hit his rod right as he started to set the hook. I thought for a minute he looked like the fish was still on there after he fished his rod out of the water too. Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted November 2, 2012 Super User Posted November 2, 2012 Not laughing either. My wife and my Dad both lost rigs over the side. Just glad he got it back. Quote
Super User BassinLou Posted November 2, 2012 Super User Posted November 2, 2012 Stuff happens. At least he was able to get his rod and reel back. Quote
Super User Ratherbfishing Posted November 2, 2012 Super User Posted November 2, 2012 Knowing me, I would've fallen in after it. Quote
shootermcbob Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 I lost one in the water...off the bank! I have a really arthritic knee, and was fishing on one of the causeways where water flows under a state route. I went to step up one step, hit that bone on bone painful spot in my knee, lost my balance and I was trying not to fall into the water, I realized that I threw/dropped my spinning rod/reel in the drink. It took me two different days of trying, but I did catch it back! Quote
11justin22 Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 Was expecting the guy to fall down......cause I've down that it hurts Quote
(='_'=) Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 yesterday i saw a guy did something like that... he was on the front of this family boat (not bassboat) using a spinning reel... as we drifted behind him, he turned and asked how many fish we got... then, he took aim and swing his arm to cast the bait... but i think he forgot to open the bail or something, because the line didnt strip off the reel... instead, it took him off balance, and in his attemp not to fall, he hit the windshield with his rod and let go off the rod... he then proceeded to rig a line with big hooks and sinkers and try to fish for his rod.... there was some current and my FF marked 25 feet deep, so i doubt he had any luck.... LMAO !! What the heck was he trying to cast? A giant swimbait or Alabama rig? Quote
(='_'=) Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 i dont know if he was casting a 5 oz lure or what happened... it looked like a big white spinnerbait, but im not sure... all i saw was he trying to cast, then the bait coming back at him, the handle of the rod hitting the windshield, then he dropping the rod to the water.... he immediately removed his life vest, i thought he was going to dive behind the rod... but no, he just sat on the side of the boat with a sad face for a while...
