YoungProdigy19 Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Hey guys, I have an awesome story to share! Earlier today, after school, I drove to a banquet hall and applied, and on the way back to my house I saw a small 200 yd stretch of woods with 2 trails on each side heading back into it. My friend and I, also a big hunter, decided to hike back in there. Seeing a bunch of tracks and trails created by deer, we decided to walk to the end of the 1st trail. Then we reached a school, walked along the fence of the school and into a trail, that turned out to be the other trail further down the road. We walked in, and noticed rubs, and I mean, HUGE rubs, trees were destroyed. We got anxious we kept walking, and walking. I heard some leaves stur up. I stopped, looked up, and looked at the biggest buck I've ever seen. Trying to count all the points I could. Then it walked away into a thicket. I told my friend we should back out, wait awhile and comeback in. So we did. On our way in, my buddy said,"Is that him, or a branch?". I saw it too, not sure, I did a snort and weeze. It turned and looked right at me! When he looked away I said, get down, thats him! We made a plan to sneak up on him different ways. I went through some thick stuff, and he snuck from tree to tree. I was 15 yds, and finally got a clean look. I counted, 13 points, including a split brough and two drop tines! One drop time was very small, but noticeable. The deer got up and walked towards my buddy. I signled to back out so we didn't spook him, and my friend got a snapshot of this beautiful michigan buck! This buck is between, 190-200 score deer, easily 280 lbs or more. We plan on setting up tomorrow and sit, and see if we can see him again, considering you can't hunt because its in a neighborhood! You never know where a world class buck will ly waiting for you too stumble upon him! Good hunting to everyone! Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted November 2, 2012 Super User Posted November 2, 2012 Great picture - of trees. I'm sure there's a deer in there somewhere. Maybe Bigfoot is in that photo also. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted November 2, 2012 Super User Posted November 2, 2012 Is there more to the story, or is it you guys just decided to "hike" into some un-known woods on a whim. Who owns them? Do you have permission to be there, is it public use land? I saw in your post that you and your friend are high school aged kids...........kids your age do questionable things, don't tresspass, even if it's just to "look" around. Quote

Especially during hunting season. I had a lady walk right under my stand last year on private land. She walked down the treeline and started poking around my buddies ground blind, which he happened to be in at the time. I heard her scream from almost a mile away when he jumped out where she could see him. He asked what she was doing and she said she was looking for rocks for her garden He asked if she knew she'd walked almost directly under my stand, she had no idea. I can say that a person coming through the tall grass sounds pretty similar and had it been low light and if I was a less ethical person that might shoot at something they can't completely identify, it's happened a time or two I know. Super User scaleface Posted November 2, 2012 Super User Posted November 2, 2012 I can see a big rack reflecting the sun rays. Looks massive to me. Quote
Super User retiredbosn Posted November 2, 2012 Super User Posted November 2, 2012 I would check it out, you may be able to bow hunt it. I have shot several deer within city limits with a bow, it was all legal. Some municipalities even have special seasons to thin the deer population. If it is near a housing development you need to do some research a trip to the county courthouse and you can find out who owns it and whether or not you need permission to access the property. He is definitely a trophy size animal Quote
YoungProdigy19 Posted November 4, 2012 Author Posted November 4, 2012 I understand what you guys mean. I dont do "questiinable things"... I'm a well mannered, CLEAN,young man. Its a park, leads to a school. People feed deer there alot. A guy my brother works with actually saw it too. Btw i hunt. I know trespassers are annoying. My brother chased a guy off our property on opening day bow... and its a 200 yd stretch of woods. C Its illegal too hunt there. In a city with a population of 100k. You cant hunt anywhere... I appreciate the good comments and am offended by the negative. "If you don't have anything good too say, don't say it all." Thats how the old saying goes right? 2 Quote

Super User Sam Posted February 2, 2013 Super User Posted February 2, 2013 That is a great story. Isn't Mother Nature great or what? I have deer in my area and the does and bucks just stand there and look at me and my wife when we open the garage door. Have seen an 8-point buck but nothing the size of the one you have seen. Try to get a clearer photo and be sure to name him. Glenn is a good name. Quote
