dam0007 Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Mr. Dam0007 aka Shimano fanboy is about to purchase Vertias Winch Rod Revo Winch Reel You guys have 1 hour to discourage me or encourage me. Lmao Waiting till Black Friday to buy other stuff I don't need but want. Lol Quote
JaxBasser Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Just a heads up but wal-mart.com has the Veritas Winch rod for $70. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Abu-Garcia-Veritas-Casting-Winch-Rod/20646886 Quote
BASSHUNTER1961 Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 I hate you now, never mind LMG.... Don't do it, you will regret it. Quote
Super User LgMouthGambler Posted November 1, 2012 Super User Posted November 1, 2012 Im flattered to be called out on a topic for a post. Discourage you from buying that reel I will not, nor can I really not discourage from the rod. Abu Veritas is an amazing rod for the $. Im sure you have taken a look at all the reels in the $200 price range, so the only thing you can do is your own personal homework. Im sure you are going Gen3 on the Winch reel, I dont know if there are many reviews out there for them yet for you to better get an idea of customer satisfaction. I dont know what brake system this reel is equiped with, but I know that I personally dont like Abu brake systems. The only thing that I would suggest would be to try out an Chronarch 200E5. I wont hate you for not buying a Shimano, but Im not going to let you in my clubhouse anymore, LOL. Good choice on the rod. Quote

dam0007 Posted November 1, 2012 Author Posted November 1, 2012 Lmaoooooooo hahahaahahhaahahaha I'm in tears! On Tacklwarehouse its on clearance for $159 Abu Revo Winch Left Hand Retrieve 5. Something ratio I wanted the Chronarch 201E5 missed one another guy was selling here, and idk been procrastinating. Made another thread about my trip to cabelas. I know other stuff I want, this pair will be my first BC set up and if its a matching set I don't see the harm in it. Trust me I'm worried about parting from Shimano but 1 reel I could give to a friend down the road isn't a big deal to me. If your free for a few minutes check out the reel let me know what you think. www.***.com/Abu_Garcia_REVO_Winch_Casting_Reel/descpage-AGRW.html Quote
Super User LgMouthGambler Posted November 1, 2012 Super User Posted November 1, 2012 Thats the previous model. Im going to have to say nay. I would buy the Chronarch E if I were you, especially for a first baitcaster. The Chronarch is easier to adjust, even if you decide to use it for other things. Also, why do you want a 5 speed, are you only using it for deep cranking? Quote

dam0007 Posted November 1, 2012 Author Posted November 1, 2012 And LMG yes this reel/rod... This setup is gonna be my crank specific combo. As long as I get the hang of BC. Lol Quote
Super User iabass8 Posted November 1, 2012 Super User Posted November 1, 2012 If the reel is going to be used for deep cranking then the winch will be a better fit for you. Anything else though im using the chronarch. The winch is a very easy reel to cast. Im a huge shimano fan but if im doing any deep cranking im using a winch. Quote
Bassego Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Chronarch 201E5 in the Flea Market, get it! For $145 thats a steal and i think its still there. Quote

I ended up with the Curado E, because of the shoot out test done by Tackle Tour, couldn't be happier. They compared the Winch, crazy cranker, quantum, and curado. Its an interesting read, plus the curado has a lower ipt. Quote
dam0007 Posted November 1, 2012 Author Posted November 1, 2012 Goin for chronarch! Hey while I have everyones attention. Lol I switched out my SC Preimier to my Symetre (for worms and top water) and wanna put a new rod on my Stradic. Can't afford to blow $300+ on a Loomis right now. Originally was going to find use for my Crowder but not for this app. Debating between Wild Black Carrot and a Crucial maybe another SC. This set up I want as my Spinner Bait specific combo. Quote
dam0007 Posted November 2, 2012 Author Posted November 2, 2012 I am now a proud owner of a Chronarch so LMG can't hate me anymore. Haha if anyone has any input on spinning rod for spinnerbaits please throw me ur opinions 1 Quote
Super User LgMouthGambler Posted November 2, 2012 Super User Posted November 2, 2012 Great reel, your gonna love it. You got a killer price. Quote
G3Steve Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 Thanks again Dave. You're gonna love the reel. It'll be in the mail tomorrow! Quote

Super User LgMouthGambler Posted November 2, 2012 Super User Posted November 2, 2012 Still a good rod. Thats going to be a hell of a combo. Quote
