Super User RoLo Posted March 1, 2010 Super User Posted March 1, 2010 I just picked up a few weedless huds. they look great but I'm a little worried about the hook up ratio. If you're using braided line, you have no reason to worry about the hookup ratio. I use 30-lb braid on spinning tackle (6" x 1oz Huddleston Weedless Trout5), and hooking-up presents no problem. The action of the weedless Hudd is subtle & attractive, and it's very weedless, which is a must in Florida. On the downside however, the weedless-slot on top of the head, tends to fall apart. Why not give fluoro a shot, and if you're not happy with the hook-ups switch to braid with a fluoro leader. Roger Quote
Super User Crestliner2008 Posted March 2, 2010 Super User Posted March 2, 2010 Last season I did pretty well with the boot-tailed, hollow bellies. I really like this bait, rigged as directed (weedless) and also glued on a heavier jig head for depth. However, this year I'm "biting the bullet". I'm picking up a catalog order at Cabelas for two of the BBZ-1 6" swimbaits. Specifically for small mouth. BIG small mouth....hopefully! One will be a fast sink rainbow trout finish and the other will be a floating perch finish. I'm going to use the floater on a carolina rig! (Sometimes I scare myself!) I'll be sure to let you know how things work out. Quote
NewAngler Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Adam that's a toad! No kidding. We might see some of those fellers down at the New River. Based on that picture alone I will bring my sb setup. Quote
Super User Hammer 4 Posted March 2, 2010 Super User Posted March 2, 2010 I would suggest a coploymer, i.e. Yozuri or Izorline..I've had issues with the fluro breaking and or fraying... > The body of water I mainly fish is quite clear. I was going to use floro. Quote
