Bass Accessories!

I'm looking into getting a digital scale and decent multi-tool so any recommendations would be appreciated!

Also, what are some of your favorite fishing accessories or what would you never do without?

Most is pretty obvious stuff, in no particular order.

Pliers

Sunglasses

Tape measure for shore, measuring board for boats

Scale

Scissors for braid

Camera

A stringer to keep fish in the water while I set up the camera for a self-timer picture

Cheap lip grip to hold fish for weighing and for removing treble hooks

Bottle to pee in

Probably other stuff that doesn't come to mind

I bought one of these and they work well for cutting braid. Take a look at http://www.boomerang...p-cutting-tool/

They are a little expensive but I'm really glad I sprung for this handly little tool.

I might add something I use on shore or in the boat, a deck towel.

Actually, I think that's a reasonable price. I was thinking of doing something similar with nail clippers and a lighter leash! lol....but that looks much more professional.

Here are the tools a multitool should have for a bass fisherman. Knife, pliers, hook sharpener, jig eye paint remover. The Leatherman Wave ,Charge and Surge have those. Personally I think the Surge is to big. The Wave is a lot less expensive than the Charge. I picked up the Charge from a pawn shop. The Wave would be the best buy. The Charge has a better knife steel but not worth the extra bucks IMO.

The diamond file is an excellent hook sharpener. I would not consider a multitool for fishing without the diamond file. There is an eyeglass screwdriver on these tools. it can be sharpened and used as a jig eye paint remover.

One tip: when you select a "multi-tool", make very sure it's stainless. Bought an expensive Gerber several years ago and the plier jaws rusted badly after a couple of seasons. It is now relegated to the junk pile.

The stainless tip is definitely a big one. Bought a knife recently for braid and other purposes and it started to rust within a month... and I dry my stuff off and store it in a tackle bag.

I always have a pair of pliers in my pocket. No matter how good of a fisherman you are, you will need to get a deep or bad hook out eventually.

KVDs line conditioner. This stuff just plain works. Spray five times the night before, and spray your guides as well. I like to reapply just once, right after noon, on the actual day of fishing.

Spike It Chart. Garlic. Not only does this stuff dye plastics Chart, but it gives them a nice scent. I believe they have other colors and scents, but this combination is my favorite. Just a little on the tail of a worm does wonders.

I could give you a list as long as your arm, but I'll only add one to the ones mentioned. Berkley makes a ruler that you stick on your rod (they also make one for your boat) that resembles a long piece of black electrical tape. For me, it's much easier to quickly measure a fish using this vs. a tournament style ruler that I have to dig out of the locker. It'll give you a fairly accurate measurement without laying the fish down which eliminates the possibility of adding contaminates on the fish and really reduces the amount of time the fish spends out of the water.

On your idea of getting a fish scale, I have one word of advice, unless you're fishing a lot of tournaments and cull fish on a regular basis, DON'T!

You will be very dissappointed when you lip that five pounder only to discover it's only three and a half. Take the measurement accurately and let you vast angling knowledge give you and educated estimate of the weight. Note: On a fish you consider your personal best, that estimate can, and will, get heavier over time.

Best little investment I have ever made. Period! This thing is fanstastic. I always lose my stuff so having that retractable lanyard is a godsend. I plan on purchasing a couple more. One for my workbench and another for my small lake tackle box.
