brushhoggin Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 the first bait i ever bought were earthworms Quote
CoBass Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 I have no idea what the first bait I ever bought was but chances are it was some kind of inline spinner because I was into trout fishing way back then. I do remember the first bait I used when I decided I wanted to target bass. 1/4 oz rattletrap, chrome with a black back. Caught a couple of 2 pounders that day and I've been chasing those silly green fish ever since. Quote
flipin4bass Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 A prerigged Creme worm with the spinner in front, I caught everything on that little bait. I landed my very first bass with that lure! The Creme was my primary lure back in the mid sixties. I remember getting it snagged once and I went in to get it back...we didn't have a lot of money in those days and I wasn't about to lose my favorite lure. Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted October 29, 2012 Super User Posted October 29, 2012 No, but I do remember the first one I hooked myself with. It was a Wiggle Wart. Quote
tytay89 Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 black buzzbait, the classic clapper not a wisperer Quote
Knightiac Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 Some 8" pre-rigged worm with three hooks in it, front middle and end. Had no idea how to really fish it. I threw it in the water and sat there for thirty minutes without moving my line. Saw the line move and set the hook. Good times lol. 1 Quote
tholmes Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 A Lazy Ike, yellow with red spots. Caught my first non-live bait bass on it. Tom Quote
Super User bowhunter63 Posted October 29, 2012 Super User Posted October 29, 2012 1/4 ounce Yellow spinnerbait and a floating Rapala. Quote
Silas Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 About 60 years ago.....a Heddon RIVER RUNT!! And the cool "trick" at the time was to "notch" the front line- tie eye with a file, up high so that when you tied the bait on it would run DEEPER! Of course, deeper in those days was about 6-8 feet But to a Cajun in South Louisiana , "Cher, dat's deep, yeah!" Our depth finder was our fishing pole.....we stuck it in the water and if we couldn't feel bottom....that was Deep! 1 Quote
Super User deep Posted October 31, 2012 Super User Posted October 31, 2012 Think it was an X-rap size 8. I haven't been bass fishing that long. Quote
youngbuckanglers Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 Roostertail 1/8 all the way!! I was a creek trout fisherman until i found bass. i tried a roostertail and had luck and loved the fight! still use them today! Quote
Super User Ratherbfishing Posted November 2, 2012 Super User Posted November 2, 2012 It was one of three baits: a creme worm with harness, a Mepps aglia spinner, or a beetle spin. I'm almost embarrassed over the number of baits I have now. Quote
greyleg33 Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 Ha! I'm at least a hundred but I think it was a Rapala Jerk Bait. Quote
