She doesn't enjoy going fishing with me at all, but she enjoys me going fishing. That being said she wanted to have me go around cabela's with her and talk/teach her about the stuff I use when I go (pre christmas planning). She didn't just want a list of things I use, but she wanted to learn more about rods/reels/lures she had a notebook with her and took notes the entire time. It was pretty fun, and I had a blast!

That's cool, I'll end up with a sweater or something. I even showed my bride the rod I want too, but I'm not holding my breath...... :respect-059:

I took my wife Snook fishing ONCE. I had to carry her chair, soda, snack, video game and book- trip lasted all of 10 minutes, haha.

She won't go in the boat for a lovely boat ride either. She's affriad I'll tip her out,

My wife and anything without an air conditioner, do not mix. She's glad to get rid of me.

So long as items get checked off the "honey-do" list, she is okay with me fishing. But if I'm fishing more than checking off items, it gets dicey.

Enjoy it while it lasts! :eyebrows:

I just recently started taking my girlfriend fishing and trying to teach her about lures and stuff. She's still got a lot to learn but shes interested and has no problem going out for a few hours without getting bored or whatever. Its cool that your wife wants to pick out some gear for you on her own. Since she took notes, hopefully it will turn out well for you on X-mas day.

My wife goes fishing with me fairly often, she's even pretty good at it when she wants to be. I do my best to make sure she's happy when we go. Bought her the St.Croix Avid Pearl with the Quantum Energy with the hologram finish to match the rods reel seat like she wanted. She doesn't hold fish without gloves so I found her a set of pink gloves small enough to fit her tiny hands. Then I make sure the weather is going to be good, that way if we aren't catching anything she's at least comfortable. I try to select a body of water where she's sure to at least catch a few fish, hopefully more. I make sure to bring a cooler full of whatever she wants to drink and some snacks for her. And the most important part, the lounge chair that fits on the back deck of the boat so she can lay out and sun herself while I fish if she just isn't interested in fishing that day :)

She surprises me once in awhile with some of the terminology she's picked up and her ability to ID even fish we don't have around here.

She really wants to catch a big bass. She had one that would have been over 6 hooked at Table Rock a year or two ago and then one over 4 hooked at a local lake last fall but both of them jumped and tossed the bait right near the boat. Even if she doesn't go with me all the time or isn't super into it every time she does go with me I still appreciate the fact that she's trying for me.

Sadly, my wife shows absolutely no interest in fishing with me. She does say, however, that when we get a boat, she will ride along and read, sun, enjoy the outdoors as I fish.

On the other hand, she is very understanding about me going fishing.

Plus, she is smart, beautiful, fun-loving, and a terrific mother...Obviously, I married way over my head.

My wife doesn't fish either. Once in a great while she will go out with me for the boat ride and sun while I fish. I wish she would do it more. She's an awesome wife and mother so I can't complain.

I married over my head too. But then again, Rosie O'Donnell would be over my head. So, yeah, I'm the lucky one in this relationship! :)

My bride of 15 years is great, too. She enjoys me going fishing and encourages it a lot. She goes when the fish are biting good, which is fine with me. We have a few dedicated spinner combos for her. She is very aware of my tackle. Knows what the difference is between my Calais DC and my Steez's, etc, and encourages me to buy more high end stuff all the time. Had to talk her out of buying me a Daiwa Pixy Type-R the other day at Cabela's (just not much of a Daiwa fan). Tough problem to have, I know.

It's so nice to be married to someone I can be completely open with about all of this stuff. No hiding tackle purchases or sneaking out fishing. So much nicer situation than I had with the first wife.

I am thankful that my wife likes to fish. She doesn't quite have the passion for it that I do. She is good for a couple of hours and she loves being out in the boat. She's can't do the sun up to sun down that I do, but she is fine with me doing it. I too, married over my head. She encourages me to make the Road Trip every year although affording it has been tough due to the rotten economy. I am blessed beyond description.
