In March I will be a proud dad of a baby boy and I am already looking to buy him a Batman rod and reel to start off his professional fishing career! What did you buy for your kids 1st?

My first was a snoopy one, then I got one for my 1st communion, and had it blessed by a priest!

First rods were a pair of Disney Cinderella rods. Those things were responsible for more smiles and pictures than all of my gear combined.

Daughter at 4: It was either a barbie or disney princess shakespeare rig. She caught a ton of fish with it. Was using a spinning reel at 5 and casting reel by 6 1/2.

Son at 3: Spiderman, Superman, Batman rods. Why so many? Because he kept dropping them into the lake, lol.

It doesn't get any easier or more convenient with these cute, little rods. They work very well for them.

First rod/reel for my oldest last year was a 5'6" zebco with some cheap micro spinning reel his grandfather got. He kept his rod but has a pflueger president on it now. My 2.5 yr old first year fishing was this year he has a cars spin cast. When he uses his older brothers he turns it upside down lol

Great stuff guys. I get such a proud feeling when I step back and just watch them fish. Soon they will be grown up before we know it.

I am looking forward to many fishing trips when I help more than I fish.

When my girl gets big enough I found a pink rod and spin cast reel at Dicks. The rod is about 2' long and the reel has LED's that light up when you turn the handle...I think that she'll like it...

Dont have kids yet, but you can bet your behind they will be fishing a Shimano! Ooooooooooooh

If inflation and devaluation of the dollar stays the same, by the time your first born can fish, Shimano will be labeling the Snoopy Casters as Chronarchs.

Nah. See, Shimanos last, so he will have an assortment of B, E, and G's to choose from.

They are holding up well so far, the first Bantam was made in 1978, so they have about 35 years on them. I have a few South Bend reels from 1907, that can still be used, and an Abu Matic from the Mid 50's that works well, so they still have a little to prove yet.

I am hoping I can find a Kansas City Royals rod/reel combo when the time comes.

Spiderman. Alot more durable and functional than you might think. Caught a few 2 lbs bass while fishing for sunnies with my son and it held up great.

A 5' ugly stick combo, I was probably 12 when I got it for christmas from my step-grandfather. He got me into fishing, and then I got my dad into it.

Now I would consider myself a mini-expert. The power of a gift.

Daughter's was Disney spin cast she quickly graduated to spinning gear. Son's was a Zebco 33, but he ended up with star wars with light up LED's.

Got him a spiderman rod at age 3, spinning reel at age 5, he turned seven this September and today I gave him a baitcast flippin stick (cut down a rod I had in the garage)

They grow up so fast (sniff)
