Ok, this question is two-fold:

I'm looking at purchasing a boat with no electronics whatsoever.

For fishing mostly in Florida, what would be...

a.) Your dream set-up, the perfect situation where money is no object,

and

b.) The best overall setup for the least amount of money. Not bare bones, but basically getting the most helpful equipment for the least amount of coin, if that makes sense.

I am looking to put something at the bow at another unit in the console area.

Thanks-

a: I have my dream setup. I have a Humminbird 1198c SI plus a Humminbird 798ci SI at the console and Humminbird 1198c SI at the bow.

b. best overall at a lower cost is the Humminbird 898c HD SI at the bow and console.

You can do pretty much the same thing with Lowrance equipment for (a) using the new HDS-12 Gen 2 Touch or the HDS-10 Gen2 with the Structure Scan accessory.

What he said!

I have 2 HDS 5's Gen 2 with structure scan. I would love to have the big screen but just can't afford them. Buy the best you can afford.

Matt, pick a lake that you "think" you know really well. Then I will come up and take you on a tour with my 1198 Si. You will be forced to buy one. I saved almost 2 years to be able to afford the "big" one and it was worth it.

I just scooped a hds 8 gen 2 for 1300 delivered. Moving my 5 to the trolling motor and 8 going on a ram mount at the console. Been wanting to do this for years but finally found the right deal. Bigger is always better!
