BradH Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 I use 30 pound braid with a 12 pound fluoro leader. Casts down to a F13 floater just fine as well as HJ10, 12 &14 Husky Jerks. Curado E7 and Daiwa 6'3" jerkbait rod. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted October 26, 2012 Global Moderator Posted October 26, 2012 Not a fan of flouro for jerks because it sinks and can pull the bait down with it. Mono or copoly is my line of choice for jerkbaits, 8-12 depending on the size of the bait and the amount of cover. I can fling a 78 pointer a long way with my jerkbait setup and have very few over runs. Quote
bassr95 Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 My personal preference is to throw jerkbaits (I like husky jerks) on a 6-6 M/f spinning set up with braid and a mono leader. I think that both throwing and working jerkbaits is far simpler and more effective on spinning gear, if I were you I would give it a shot. On the other hand, most guys seem to prefer casting gear, so obviously that works too. Quote
shootermcbob Posted October 27, 2012 Posted October 27, 2012 I too prefer to throw jerkbaits on spinning gear. I just have an easier time working the rod with my right hand and reeling with my left...baitcasters are right handed. Also, at least for me, it is much easier on my body to use spinning gear. As such, I have no problems casting any jerkbait. Quote
