hike4steel Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 My son would like to learn to hunt whitetail. He is 13 and a good size boy. Wondering if anyone out there has a bow for sale that would be a good size for a young man. Quote
BASSHUNTER1961 Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 My son has a Browning Micro Midas 3 which is very nice bow to start out with. Check your local laws for minimum draw weight. Quote

shootermcbob Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 I see you are in Canton, Ohio. I would HIGHLY recommend taking your son to Hadley's Sports in Akron. A young man named Dustin Bounce owns it and learned the archery business from Jim Hadley, who shot professionally. I strongly recommend that you have your son properly fit for not only draw weight but also, and more importantly to proper shooting form, draw length. Archery can be a tremendously fun sport, but it is CRITICAL to have equipment that fits exactly and is properly tuned. 1/8 inch difference in draw length can make an unbelievable amount of difference in accuracy. Also, it would be well worth it to invest in shooting lessons while you are there. It will rapidly advance your sons skill level, making it more fun for him and more humane for the animals he hunts. Sfritr Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 I would second what Shooter stated above. As far as a brand for a young shooter, the Diamond Razors Edge is an excellent setup for a young shooter. The bow can grow with the shooter(or vice versa) The draw length and pundage can be adjusted from 15lbs up to 65lbs and the limbs can be adjusted. My son is 13 and has had the bow for 3 years. It will be his bow up into his late teens unless he upgrades himself. good luck Quote
