airborne_angler Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 Id like to put together a comparison of the 2 different Lipless Cranks that Strike King currently offers. ( I have never fished either one) Heres the stats on both: Crank #1 Strike King Diamond Shad: Weight: 1/2 ounce Color: Sexy Shad Crank#2 Strike King Redeye Shad: Weight: 1/2 ounce Color: Lucky Shad Im not an avid Crankbait fisherman, but may start trying crankbaits this year. Both of these baits have similarities in that they are both rattling, lipless cranks. Is one of these better than the other,or???. Id like to get some opinions based on experience on both of these cranks (if thats possible) How do these baits differ, other than the obvious appearance? Does one have louder/different frequency rattles? How about the action, does one have a tighter wiggle? Ive never known a company to market 2 different kinds of lipless rattle trap style baits at the same time...Or am I wrong? Cotton Cordell has "The Spot" Bill Lewis has the "Rat-L-Trap" Rapala has the "Rattlin Rapala" Im curious as to why SK would market 2 similar style(but different appearing) baits at the same time. Is this a way of slowly making the Diamond Shad obsolete, and making the Redeye Shad the front runner? Quote
carrothead Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 Rapala also makes the "Clackin' Rap", which is a lipless crankbait. Just sayin'. Quote
airborne_angler Posted February 26, 2010 Author Posted February 26, 2010 The Rattlin Rapala is harder to find anymore though(at least around here). I seriously thought they discontinued it. Quote
21farms Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 the diamond shad has a wider wobble and has a lot more rattles inside it, making it louder. however, it needs a medium to fast retrieve or it won't vibrate. the red eye shad has a tighter wiggle and can worked slower (and faster) without losing effectiveness. also, the red eye will flutter downward upright on slack line whereas the diamond shad will flip onto it's side and just drop with no action. Thats the type answer I was hoping for. Thanks!!! Quote
