I agree, except I would personally recommend mono over braid for a beginner. I just feel like there's a little less worry about with mono for someone who is a green newby. I would look into buying something like an Abu Garcia Cardinal spinning combo spooled with 8-10 lb Trilene XL. It will be a good starting point but not break the bank just in case you find you don't like fishing as much as many of us do . Then grab a couple packs of senko worms, some hooks and go catch bass!
