Super User Nitrofreak Posted January 23, 2013 Super User Posted January 23, 2013 I dunno, I recall every analyst was picking the pats sunday. LOL And I dunno if it was in this article or the Sun Caldwell is staying on as OC next season!!! will be really interesting, Flacco and Rice might put up some big numbers finally. I don't see "big numbers", but I see numbers that will get them a lot of victories next season, Best of luck in the big one, I have no doubt you all will do very well !!! 1 Quote
Super User Jigfishn10 Posted January 23, 2013 Super User Posted January 23, 2013 So, who will watch the Pro Bowl this weekend?...Man, that has turned into a joke! Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted January 23, 2013 Super User Posted January 23, 2013 Pro bowl, what's that? The only all star game worth watching to me is baseball. 2 Quote
Super User Jigfishn10 Posted January 23, 2013 Super User Posted January 23, 2013 Pro bowl, what's that? The only all star game worth watching to me is baseball. Baseball is much better, they at least have something to play for! Quote
Super User MCS Posted January 23, 2013 Super User Posted January 23, 2013 Pro bowl, what's that? The only all star game worth watching to me is baseball. Now that it counts for something. Pro Bowl should do the same, guess it doesn't really work everyone is on the road and it is not a series for the DuperBowl. Does home team have any advantages in the NFL other than crowd noise and colored jerseys? Quote

Super User flyfisher Posted January 23, 2013 Super User Posted January 23, 2013 I am not a fan of the al star game counting for anything either. It is better than having it alternate every year like it used to but I would rather see the best overall record get home field or even though I hate inter league play, use the teams record there to determine home field. The nba all star game is entertaining but usually for about a quarter after that it gets boring. Quote
Super User MCS Posted January 23, 2013 Super User Posted January 23, 2013 You being serious or something else? Both. Mean its not like a sport with a series advantage, it not like baseball with the DH rules. I would rather IMO see the Super Bowl played in NOT a neutral venue. Quote

Yeah I see your point too, it does kinda mess with the WS, but you have to admit the last few some of them guys actually were trying to win. Quote

No doubt they try to win but when guys bail out like meter because he is mentally to tired then it is dumb. It is the same in all sports though. Certain players feel bigger than the game and when you are voted in by the fans, the same ones who pay your salary, you need to play if you are healthy. 1 Quote

I think football does it right where they play 1 game for all the marbles to have it in a neutral venue, but it would be hard in the other sports where they play to win 4 of 7. Quote

A lot of players don't want to play and to be honest, I can see why. Quote
Super User MCS Posted January 23, 2013 Super User Posted January 23, 2013 Oh nitro what did your skins go and do now??? LOL http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutdown-corner/washington-redskins-were-targeted-imposter-using-fake-female-181105506--nfl.html Check out her screen name, if that just doesn't put up red flags I don't know what does. Two of the flags that come to mind are "babies momma" and "STD" Quote
The one that got away Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 I think they should name the teams for the Pro Bowl and not bother with the game. No one - players, coaches, fans - cares about the actual game anyway. The only real benefit is to players with incentives in their contracts. The selected players I'm sure are happy to be recognized, but that's about it. 1 Quote

Have Super Bowls always been neutral, because nfl championships were not. Sorry the period between the colts and ravens I am foggy on, as a kid football was watched but it didnt really mean anything. Sorry the period between the colts and ravens I am foggy on, as a kid football was watched but it didnt really mean anything. I'd have to do a search on that, but I do remember they did play in cold venues back in the day so it tells me it wasn't always neutral. EDIT: Actually, it looks like they were: http://www.nfl.com/superbowl/history Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted January 23, 2013 Super User Posted January 23, 2013 The problem with a non neutral site is the logistics of it all. That many people in a small area with no preparation is a recipe for disaster. Not to mention Goodel, the dictator, needs a new Bentley every year so he would want it at a venue that seats the most amount of people as possible. Quote

Super User flyfisher Posted January 23, 2013 Super User Posted January 23, 2013 LMAO...do you like ANYONE?...LOL Lol of course. But tell me I am wrong about Goodel Let's see, non eagles football players I like-London fletcher, Calvin Johnson, Jamal Charles, orakpo, brees, Andy Reid (was always a fan) Reggie Wayne.....there are more too but most of my dislike is due to every team beating the eagles year after year.....now once they are no longer active players then I can like them, in most cases Quote
Super User MCS Posted January 23, 2013 Super User Posted January 23, 2013 Cold climates would be nice to see, to me is a part of the game. Also I feel most of a teams fans cannot afford to go to the Super Bowl it would be way better if it was at least in one of the teams towns. Plus the local impact economically. Anyway enough of dreaming. Reality is the pro bowl sucks and the Super Bowl is all about $$$ for the NFL Quote

Super User Jigfishn10 Posted January 23, 2013 Super User Posted January 23, 2013 No flyfisher, you're not far from the truth with Goodel...and you are a true fan for your team and I really respect that!! The location has a lot to do with it, heck, Jacksonville was darn near paralyzed for a week the year they hosted it. Quote

Super User flyfisher Posted January 23, 2013 Super User Posted January 23, 2013 The Super Bowl is going to be played in the meadowlands so hopefully it is freezing cold and old school football wins. It is both a blessing and a curse being a philly sports fan. In general we are very passionate and will rip our own team as much as our opponents. I like to think of it as family, I can call my sister a royal PITA but if you do that's when it gets ugly 1 Quote
