Super User Nitrofreak Posted January 21, 2013 Super User Posted January 21, 2013 Yes I really will pick those 2 plays and call them game changers. Can't argue with that then. I think this says it all for the second half. Despite all of the problems they had he still passed Farve for the most yards with over 5 thousand I think it was, that is quite an accomplishment, I think he threw for over 300 in the game too, he did quite well and will most likly be one of the best if not the best in history. The one that got away Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 We'll see if the Pats like having Julian Edelman trying to make big plays in crunch time next year, instead of Wes Welker. But that WAS a drop. The play last year in the SB would have been a great catch if he came down with it. Don't forget that Branch and Hernandez also couldn't make catches in the last drive last year. Super User deaknh03 Posted January 21, 2013 Super User Posted January 21, 2013 Sorry, I disagree, Welker catches that pass, Patriots have in first and 10 at about the Raven 30, they probably get a least an FG, if not a TD, at that point they were leading 13-7. It was a game changing drop. Hernandez goes out of bounds instead of staying in, they would have had a couple of shots at the end zone at the end of the first half. Again a potential game changer. It was in the hands of a couple of Pats players and they blew it. I see 2 plays as game changers, the Welker drop, an easy catch that gives them a first down and keeps a drive deep in Ravens territory going, and Ridley getting coldcocked and losing the ball, stopped a budding drive and gave Balt 7 pts. Obviously the Ravens played a more physical, aggressive game and deserved to win, but those 2 plays swung the game in my opinion. Next up, I have to say, I'm very glad Welker catches 120 balls every year, but I'm done with him dropping the most important ones, let him walk as a free agent. People say we wouldnt be here without him, but they made it to the bowl without him, and havent won with him, I'm sure there is someone else capable of catching a bunch of passes over the middle, and might even have the stones to catch one when it counts. Look at the replay, Pollard was aimed and attempting the tackle, heading straight to Ridley's chest, then Ridley lowered his head and shoulder into him and knocked his own self out, did a split and kneed the ball loose LOL Complain about hard hits coming from a team with Rodney Harrison as their enforcer for years. Wasn't he voted dirtiest player EVER???? man u patriots fans cry worse than your coach when you all lose. Throw Wes to the wolves, but not that god of a man u call Brady no, he didn't suck when it counted. LOL 2 Quote

I never said it was a dirty play, I simply said it was a game changing play. Quote

Everyone that follows football closely knows each game is usually decided by a couple of key plays, and those were my 2 that I felt changed this game. Quote

Well Coldcocked to me implied it was dirty. fair enough, sorry for the rant.....but why are you all hating on Wes so much, bound to make a mistake here or there, with out him next year you all think you will be that dynamic of an offense? Quote
Super User MCS Posted January 21, 2013 Super User Posted January 21, 2013 And I am just playing devils advocate for the Brady hate, he truly WAS one of the best qbs, but sadly his time has passed. My two key plays would be the Ridley fumble, cuz if you all would scores that drive it would have kept the ravens momentumn down. And Brady's first pick was the other, it was 8 or 6 minutes left, that was the must score drive right there, put it to a 7 or 8 point game with 5 minutes left, and a ravens punt Brady would have had time to tie it. The best teams have figured out that taking the middle of the field away is the way to beat the Pats. There is no outside threat, Randy Moss, so when the middle of the field is taken away, the corners just have to stay with the receivers, and Deoin Branch and Brandon Lloyd arent outrunning anyone, ever. To top it off, I think Welker can be replaced, the backs coming out of the backfield can pick up some slack, Vereen looks like he can catch the ball, so now just replace Welker with someone who can catch 75 balls, and the other 50 get spread out to TEs and RBs. These days 75 catches isnt a big task, especially with the O they run. Quote
Super User Nitrofreak Posted January 21, 2013 Super User Posted January 21, 2013 Go ahead and release Welker, somebody out there will snag that tallent and be happy about it. Quote

I see releasing welker, someone already mentioned edleman, but can they get their money put into a speedier outside threat? Seems like after moss, maybe even signing him, they tend to get a lot of retreads at WR, Stallworth, gaffney, branch a second time, lloyd. Quote
Super User deaknh03 Posted January 21, 2013 Super User Posted January 21, 2013 Welker and Branch and are both free agents starting the day after the super bowl. So it's not a matter of releasing anyone, it's just not giving them a new contract. I don't know who is available as far as outside threats go, but I am sure they are putting it on the priority list. If Edelman stays healthy, he's Welkers replacement, but I see the team giving Welker the franchise tag and keeping him next year. Moss isnt the answer, he's logged too many miles. Quote
Super User Redlinerobert Posted January 21, 2013 Super User Posted January 21, 2013 Well now. Super Bowl tickets are a mere $7500. Each. lol. 1 Quote

preach4bass Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 Just curious but how many playoff exits does brady and belichik have to make before people start saying they are choke artists.... Well, there are a lot of coaches and qbs that would love to make the playoffs every year. And, out of the teams that make it, all buy one exit the playoffs without being the champion. They have won three Super Bowls, and led their team to two more. They're 5-2 in the AFC Championship game, and won three playoff games in the past two years. Now, they haven't won the Super Bowl since '04, but he has his team to three playoff wins in the past two years. And, you do remember that they were in the Super Bowl last year, don't you? I'd be happy if my team (the Cowboys) were as competitve as the Patriots are every year with Brady and Belichik. You can all them choke artists if you want, but there is not a more winning coach/qb duo in the sport today, so if we're throwing around titles, we would have to lable the rest of the NFL as a bunch of losers. 1 Quote

So you are saying it has been a few years since the patriots should have been called choke artists? And if you take away any Super Bowl wins during the cheating era I would believe belichik and Reid have the same amount of Super Bowl wins.....zero Quote

Super User MCS Posted January 22, 2013 Super User Posted January 22, 2013 A nice little write up about the not only elite but best QB in the league. http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/baltimore-ravens-joe-flacco-play-backs-up-big-talk-brian-billick-weekly-review-012113 3-0 in the playoffs this year, 2 road wins against two HOF qbs, 8 tds 0 picks, 8-4 in the playoffs over a 5 yr career. Not too shabby. Quote
Super User Nitrofreak Posted January 22, 2013 Super User Posted January 22, 2013 Huh !!! Sounds like Billick is eating a little humble pie to me !! He was against the Ravens early in the week before the game, did he ever change his pick? Quote
Super User MCS Posted January 22, 2013 Super User Posted January 22, 2013 I dunno, I recall every analyst was picking the pats sunday. LOL And I dunno if it was in this article or the Sun Caldwell is staying on as OC next season!!! will be really interesting, Flacco and Rice might put up some big numbers finally. Quote
Super User MCS Posted January 22, 2013 Super User Posted January 22, 2013 Yeah, Ed has been just as important as Ray for several years now. He is incomparable as far as free safetys go. Hes a little older but Kapernick still needs to know where he is otherwise Ed is gonna be dancing in the Superdome.Ed and Haloti Ngata get forgotten about so often but those two men make that defense what it has been. It all start up front with Ngata and in the back end with Reed. Im glad to see those guys finally get there. Theres alot of unheralded guys on the Ravens team. Yea, i like a ravens fan, i do pull for them when im not pulling for my panthers. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nfl--ed-reed-overshadowed-by-ray-lewis--last-hurrah-055708314.html Ed is my all time favorite Raven. Little bit because he doesn't crave the spot light so much, little bit because I love the ball hawking and hard hitting. Quote
